A good sign on Mario

I was thinking about what makes a good recruiter and why kids like certain coaches. Presence. Cristobal said something about boots on the ground. Thats one thing we have been lacking at for years, other schools pay unofficial agents to sell the school year in year out. People from the specific area. Especially outa state schools. Cristobal seems to get this and has alot of links, a network of sorts. He also loves visiting the players himself. Kids react to the HC keeping up with them, staying on them.

As for what D money says, i been saying none of that **** matters or Nebraska would still be good. Tennessee would still be good. Kids first dream is to go pro, 2nd thing is to win in college and be on the big stage, if all that is ticked then they would rather do it closer to home....most of the times. They are not gonna stay home if they are not being coached up to go pro or win things, compete on the big stage.
I think a lot of people assume (maybe I’m incorrect here) that great recruiters and kinds scummy, full of it etc

But I don’t think that’s true at all

Kids aren’t stupid these days they can spot a phony when they speak

When Mario speaks, people listen

They definitely aren’t but alright
Relative to what? Toddlers? Kids today have less face to face interaction with others than at any point in our lifetimes. Considering how most of them have been forced to take classes at home and when they aren’t, their faces are buried in their phones. But sure, let’s argue that kids today are more emotionally intelligent than ever before.

I don’t disagree with any of the other points you made about salesmen/recruiter stigma, and Mario’s presence. But to chalk it up to young people being smart and savvy, in my opinion, that’s unfounded (in general)

You’re getting more granular than I am

We actually agree completely I rhink

Are kids stupid? **** yes they are lol. Have they always been stupid. **** yes they have.

What I guess I meant was sometimes they aren’t given enough credit for seeing through some of these coaches sales tactics….now then again that could be with the help of their families as well

I think we (Miami) are a good examples of how coaches that can’t deliver have pushed recruits away because they don’t buy the BS

But speaking broad strokes, kids are absolute idiots. I deal with them every day

I can only imagine what Cristobal will do recruiting. He's crushed it recruiting for Alabama and Oregon, but now that he's home, recruiting for Miami? He could hardly contain himself in his opening speech. He's going to have kids running through brick walls just on their recruiting visits.
