A Few Small Observations About This Team

Not sure to what extent Golden controls or influences the marketing, but it too reflects the Golden/ U program dialectic as a unified message. The caliber of Miami's sports marketing and spot on communications to fans and public has never been better. We all gettin brainwashed. Love it.

Good stuff OP.

I would say @ GT comeback was a turning point for this team.

The way we celebrated that win was unlike anything I've seen here in a loooong time.

Indeed K9cane. Excellent point that I have modified ever so slightly.

K9cane said:

And if you recruit enough good players( who buy-in) and create a culture where they are held accountable, you will have guys who will consistently run to the ball because there is a chance if they don't, they will be right next to Golden on the sideline and then if it continues right out the door headed to Bethune or Utah or anywhere not named the University of Miami.

Benn, there's no doubt about that, it's all about culture and if you don't become a part of it, you wont be long for the U

Golden, has got this thing back to where it's important to want to be a Miami Hurricane, not a guy looking at UM as an NFL internship

One of the aspects of the Shannon years that bothered me the most was the arm tackling. I had never seen a Miami defense so inept at tackling. That changed almost immediately once Golden took over. Don't get me wrong, I recognize the fact that the defense had a host of other problems up until this season but I definitely noticed that the defense was more physical.

Good stuff. I would add They never quit playing hard. The first thing I noticed in year one was that the team no longer quit on games--well except the last one after we self-imposed. They were playing all 4 quarters. We saw the finished product of that in the reptile coffin they put the gator in this month. Staff is making Canes out of mere men-- its a process. Great observations.

Since we have never been behind, this has not been tested. It's a small point because I don't want us to get into a situation where it is tested. Teams don't often quit when they are ahead.

I think he is referring to the last two years, where we played to the end, even when behind.

You know when you gang tackle, and run to the play - outnumbering the offense 3 to 1, chances are you will get that fumble - it may be the fumble that wins the game. These guys are looking like the Ye Olde U. Running to the play. Don't join in .... then get out.

Loved the initial post. Good stuff.

Good point and I presume Golden has a huge influence over every aspect of the football program, including the "marketing" as it influences everything from recruiting to weekly rankings. It's his m.o. and he is extremely detail oriented. The best head coaches are CEO's as much as they are coaches. As has been stated numerous times about our guy Al, he just "gets it".

10) During Game

i. Nap time during first quarter water break
ii.Dont forget to send in the play late and use a time out just inc ae because you have three of them
iii. Try not to lose by too much, so we can actually give the game ball to somebody.

Addazio is a "corch" through and through....lol
