I don't care what he says. It's just Pee Wee Herman saying "I meant to do that!".

He's got SEC resources and he just signed 11 high school kids. That's pathetic, no matter what he claims his strategery is.

This was said back in 2021. It’s not like he is just making it up now. That is his strategy not something he just fell into and making it up now. He also landed #2 portal class behind USC last year according to 24/7. It will be interesting to see if his strategy pans out

@SWFLHurricane has an opening on February 18th. He'll be there all weekend, he has a high tolerance for pain, he heals quickly, and he takes on all-comers.

In a no-IC-rules-limitation year, you CAN walk and chew gum at the same time.

You can sign 25 high school kids AND get 15 or more Portal players to replace your transfers-out. That is, literally, half of your 85 man roster. That flips a roster, unless you thought we were all talking about getting 85 new players in one year.

It IS possible to recruit both HS and Portal. It's NOT complicated.

Yes, and "lazy recruiting" didn't just show up this year, this is just the worst year of it (and the most inexplicable, given Kiffin's on-field success and SEC resources).

I just find it amusing that when nearly every coach in the country gives some sort of "Portal is the new reality" quote in 2021, you have chosen to act as if Kiffin's version of that exact same pre-written quote was some kind of new and unique coaching manifesto that nobody else embraced, except for Visionary Kiffin...

Lol im just telling you his actual strategy that he is implementing. It’s one thing to make a quote vs actual follow through with it. I don’t know if his strategy will work long term. One point he did make was that at least with portal guys they are locked in bc they for the most part have used their 1 free transfer unlike hs kids.

And I've already addressed "player average". It's a great talking point in March, but it is meaningless in December. If you think he can sign another 11 guys with that same ranking average, then let's see it. Because there just AREN'T eleven more players with Ole Miss as a finalist with THAT kind fo quality left to sign in February. Mathematically, Lane's lofty "player average" will decline once he adds more 2 and 3 stars to fill out the class.

He took less than 20 the previous year as well. He's only gone over the 20 threshold once since he's been there. I think That's their recruiting strategy it seems, and so far, it's served them pretty well. They clean up nice in the Portal.

You still don't get it.

You act like this is a "strategy". But it's not a "strategy" when nearly every single team is doing it.

The DIFFERENCE is that, so far, Kiffin has had a higher hit-rate with who he has signed. Same as Prison Mike Norvell.

That does NOT mean that Lane Train and Prison Mike have a "strategy" that nobody else is using. They are just having more success than most FOR NOW. Maybe their scouting and signing of Portal players will continue at such a high success rate. Maybe it won't.

But you can set-aside the fake nonsense that there is some kind of "strategy" at play here. It's like...is it a "strategy" to play a QB and 5 OLs and a RB and a TE and 3 WRs? NO, because everyone is doing it, some just do it better than others.

Cut the crap. Those were IC-limited years, thus he saves a few spots for transfers. I get it. Made sense then.

WE ARE NOW IC-UNLIMITED. And this motherfvcker signs 11 high school kids? That is insane and irresponsible WHEN THERE ARE NO IC LIMITATIONS.

It's like some of you guys ignore the existence of math, and are trying to tell me that Kiffin is engaging in some masterful strategery. What is next on the agenda, does Genius Kiffin plan to sign FIVE high school recruits next year?

BRILLIANT! It will be the highest "class average" ever, he only has to sign 5 good high school players! What a strategy!

looks like he is going for 12-14 hs kids and 10-12 transfer portal. He already has 6 in the portal currently. I mean he did the same thing with last year's class but apparently its only talk lol.

I think you are missing it. His strategy is to go heavy portal every year. I don’t know other teams that are currently going to bank on the portal every year as their primary source.
