A couple things besides obvious defensive ineptitude that lost this game.

Offense scored 21 points in the first 17 minutes then only 17 in the next 43 mins. 3 punts as well as the fumble return for a TD.
We needed 50 points to beat Lou and Duke. We knew we'd need 50 to beat Syracuse. The defense did what we expected (gave up 35). The offense didn't. Only 38 points on a bad defense PLUS giving up a fumble return for a TD.

Defense allowed Syracuse to convert 70% (7/10) on third down. They averaged just under 50% all year.
The defense also allows Syracuse to run the football down the stretch. Syracuse is one of the worst rushing the ball in college football st 127th out of 133 teams.

The decision to not hand the ball to Martinez on the play that X fumbled and the play that George got that penalty on, will forever haunt me. It’s not Dawson’s fault they ****ed those up, but it made no sense to throw the ball on those plays.
He literally schemed up a first down on a screen against a defense selling out for a run.

The offense was rolling on the 1st 3 drives.Cam passing and Fletcher and Martinez getting possitive yds every carry. Then after SU scored we put Lyle in and he lost yds on his carry and the drive stalled.

It’s really the most Miami thing that I can image.

Blow a 21-0 lead with the best offense in the country.

Your best player fumbles

Your knuckle head hold over player from the previous regime that you give 100 chances to cost you the game.

You fail to set the edge 5 str8 times to end your magical run.
And. On the George penalty play Horton drops a perfect slant throw that’s leading him to a walk in touchdown. It’s the little things.

Don't forget the final nail in the coffin with Moten jumping offsides and crushing the center when he is literally lined up right next to the fckin ball...dumbest team in years

Really is.

i know many don’t want to hear this one here but as Vince Lombardi said “winning is a habit”.

And you can just see where many of these guys just aren’t accustom to winnning at this level and the focus play in and play out to win consistently.

-Obviously…You can't kick a FG there. Unforgivable. Maybe from the 15-20 I will listen….Maybe 7-8 minutes left I listen. But even then, you hadn't stopped them in over 2 hours.

-Only 10 touches for D-Martinez. It was clear the last 5-6 games that he's better than Fletcher. I don't mind Fletcher and he can be have a nice Miami RB career if he improves his vision and balance (not the easiest things, but just saying…He's not by any means a bust.). Since some early struggles with hesitating too much in a new style offense, Martinez has been an animal. And it was clear out there he was on a different planet today…He was turning the 4 yard gains into 8 and broke two big ones, although one was called back on a… And somehow Fletcher ends up with 4 more touches.

-Phantom hold…What the **** was that call? Ridiculous.

- And I was going to try to ignore the defense, because it is what it is…BUT…Can we maybe…Just maybe…Roll a safety over the top to help Frederique?

- George is a spoiled brat. Pure selfishness. Hope it was worth it.
Absolutely spot-on.

Great post

Not giving Martinez a couple of touches at the goal line was inexcusable.
As I stated in the Lyle thread, the agenda to force feed Fletcher will likely keep us from having a top tier running game next year.

He is exactly who he always is on pretty much a weekly basis, a 40-60yd back. Who give or take, can have a handful of 10-20yds runs every once in a Blue moon.

But when he doesn't get a lucky break & finds a run lane for 10+, he's basically gonna give you the same performance every week; 40-60yds.

Great kid, extremely average & overrated RB.

He has zero vision. He's out there just running into people like a pinball.

In a game like today.you ride with Martinez. No excuse to not have him run it 30 times today.

You sure did…Fletcher works as long as there is a big lane to run through…And he's also good at avoiding no gains. Once he gets downhill in the open he's a tuack. But patience, vision, balance all leave a lot to be desired. He also doesn't slash or carry a pile as far as Martinez. Martinez doesn't get tackled by one person and turns 3 into 6-7.

You are probably a tad more harsh than me on Fletcher. But you are correct.

Martinez looked excellent today, and he had 10 ****** touches.

And I like Lyle too don't get me wrong, and am excited for the future with him. But it's as if we were going out of our way to give him token snaps as well.

Right

Or at least 16-18 with a couple of catches if game is back and forth. But yeah but once you had a lead it should have been 25 touches

And it was right in front of staff's eyes. Martinez was a bomb waiting to explode out there today. Fletcher was tripping for 3-4 yards. **** the play where Fletcher tried to get back up and got 9 before they ruled his knee was down and ruled it a 3 yard gain was likely 15-20 for Martinez because he doesn't get knocked off stride the way Fletcher did.
