A couple big visit updates for this weekend…

I think Jerimiah Smith said the same thing once or twice last year. Could work out the same way but think it's way to early in the year to take what any recruit says seriously.
Jeremiah smith said it because he was being antagonized by Miami fans who said they don’t want him back on campus. Thomas said it unprompted then proceeded to not set up any OV with us this summer. Don’t think the two situations are anything alike

Highly ranked OL who still need time to develop are gong to be tricky. They will command top NIL contracts but your probably going to have to eat a couple years with no return before they get dialed in. At which time, they could just transfer out anyway.

Go big dollar on the 5 star who is also a plug and play like Mauigoa and then shoot for lower ranked/cheaper developmental guys with the high end physical traits for the rest.

I dont think we see too many more Samson Okunlola's

We get Solomon Thomas and the kid from Gorman and this becomes a non issue real fast.

Sounds like Thomas not even considering us anymore.

Again, I'm not super worried…It's just weird that kids are completely not even listing us anymore here in early June. Addison, Thomas, Matthews…Miami has fallen off a cliff with all of them, like after being heavily involved to not even top 5/not getting a visit. I mean…We get a visit from ALMOST everyone we want or are involved with, let alone OL (who usually hold our HC/OL coach in high regard)

Yeah it’s weird. Someone else pointed out that Thomas gave us the no thanks. I stand corrected.

I'd guess our OLine board is ranked something like:

Committed
- Taykaylen Muek

OT:
- Solomon Thomas (FSU)
- Owen Strebig (ND)
- Demetrius Campbell
- Hardy Watts
- Connor Howes
- Demetri Manning
- Jaden Wilkerson

iOL:
- Seuseu Alofaituli
- Cortez Smith
- Kaden Strayhorn
- Isaac Sowells
- Max Buchanan
- Gabe Smith

I don't think we view this as a great Tackle class. I think Seuseu and Cortez are above most of the OTs we are after. I could see this being a 1 OT and 3 iOL class. Then again most of the guys we do go after are big regardless. And if they are athletic enough it's not like a 6'4" guy can't be a OT...

Let's be honest: whoever comes in to play OT will have to beat out several players. The coaches might as well take a developmental guy rather than risk getting a high-major guy who might transfer out.

Francis Mauigoa
Samson Okunlola
Markel Bell
Matthew McCoy
Tommy Kinsler
Deryc Plazz
Juan Minaya

Maybe so, I just don't expect FSU to have an amazing season and would be highly surprised If he didn't make it to the FSU Mia game. Every season you hear about secret visitors it's not like jacksonville is a far drive. As far as summer OV I'm sure we will have a few during the season as well. Again you could be right but the way things are now I'd never take a kid on their word about no more visits.

Too early to even know what we have with Plazz/Minaya and outside of Francis it wouldn’t surprise me if one or more of the other guys portaled out depending on how this season goes for them. I hope everyone of them stays and gets developed but you can’t count on that nowadays.

Matthews situation is intriguing. Beginning of the cycle he was a guy being quoted as saying “he’s not big on NIL and felt like it’s ruining college football”. Few months later he has a decision that pointed to the Vols. Cancels said decision to take trips, canceled this OV. The 247 national writer said something along the lines “not shocking following this recruitment”.. Now he plans to decide June 11th, Miami nor Tennessee feel good about said decision. The backstory will be interesting

Bro when the 2025 recruit comes in almost all those guys will be gone by that recruits 2nd year

Matthews plays bad competition like Samson did. Im not saying he is, but he could be overrated. Also most of his highlights are on defense. Also could be he chose elsewhere and leveled with the coaches and eliminated us.
And the defensive highlights aren’t good.

Let’s mop up on blue chip
IOL and shoot for a portal OT.

Feel good about Francis and Bell in 25.

Bet get it. It’s weird that we aren’t getting traction with elite OT.

I like one OT and three IOL.

A lot of them want to play early, and there are easier paths to early playing time than Miami.

Is it possible that UM does not believe any of the prospects are currently worth the NIL asking price?
We have a tendency to believe that every year the high rated kids are similar or equal to the high rated kids from the previous year. In reality they are not. So UM may have believed last year that Bell was the person to target as opposed to any high rated high school Oline.

One thing of which I am very confident is that UM has the NIL money to go after any player we really want. Now so do about 10-15 other schools so we won’t win every battle regardless, but when I see a lack of strong interest from UM for an Olineman I believe it is from UM deciding that the player is simply not worth the asking price.

JMO.

Sounds like LB Jadon Perlotte is moving his visit to next weekend. I’m told this is a simple scheduling deal and there is positive momentum in this recruitment.

OT Jaelyne Matthews is a different story. His visit has been canceled. Mutual parting of ways.

Another "mutual parting of ways"? This was a national top recruit at OL. Don't come back and sell us athletes and body types later because we just got beat flat out by UT. We have not been on the radar of top OL since Samson and Francis.
