The defense has been the best part of this team for a minute now. They’re constantly on the field. They’ve, help me remember, haven’t had a game where they didn’t work harder, longer and were put in terrible positions by the offense. We’ve been void of a kicking game, quarterback, offensive line, offensive game planning and points for the entirety of this current and the previous coach. Say what you will, but the defense performed admirably last year and the previous coach, under the worst of circumstances. People might not appreciate the recruiting on that side of the ball, but when the lights go on, it’s been the only bright spot. Maybe we could spend more time lamenting the one that’s sucked.

Forgive give me if I don’t pile onto the position coach’s being terrible at recruiting their positions, when they recruit areas. They are in charge of evaluating the groups and with the approval of the HC and DC/OC can give offers. No position decides who gets the offer or who they get to personally recruit. Maybe that’s why Fields was recruiting the number one LB in the country last year.

Maybe a blank checkbook would have helped with some of the misses too.
