5* OT charles baldwin dismissed by bama

People can say he sucked all they want, but I don't buy it. He got beat out by a legit 5-star recruit that was an EE and a top-5 OT nationally.

This guy was highly rated for a reason and based on some of the comments I read on this guy from Bartow following his commitment I have a very hard time believing this guy was sooo bad he would just be cut loose so quickly. I'm talking the kind of hype, from an in-person evaluation from Bartow, that said in so many words that Baldwin was one of the best OL he had evaluated. He obviously broke some rule of significance or he would still be around on potential alone. To the best of my knowledge he still has a RS too and we all know Cam Robinson is 1st rd bound after this season so PT will be available. Let's give it some time and see what this violation was before assuming he was let go due to ability.

Pending the violation I personally would gladly take him at Miami. We desperately need OTs and it would be worth a shot. Can't be worse than Jahair Jones and I do believe he has a RS so we could use that and see what he has next year.

Not that Bartow is immune to being wrong but I found his comments following Baldwin's commitment, check them out and you decide for yourselves if this guy can play or not.

The pictures are hard to see on mobile so I'll just post his responses.

#1 : "Bad a$$. Huge get for the Tide."

#2 : "Here's my Charles Baldwin story. Not the one busted tonight. Not the one written. The untold but best one.
I'm leaving ASA college in Brooklyn in late April. After I just saw this beast. The OL coach walks me out & all the way back to my car in the busiest city in the world. Mind U its my first time ever in NYC.
I see that I have a $130 parking ticket.
But it doesn't faze me (like it would others normally)
Why didn't this have any effect?
Was it because I was in the big apple? Maybe
Was it because this was school stop number 175 of 175 of the spring? Perhaps
The real answer tho: cause I just met Charles **** Baldwin.
As impressive of a prospect as I saw all spring.
The no. 1 juco recruit in America.
6-5, 295 lean pounds of bad ***
Filled with appreciation, toughness and an edge, that dog that U need
4.78 in the 40
475 in the press
All upside
And originally from the Northeast, home of elite run blockers
So $130 to park for an hour. Take that cash America
Now U know why that wasn't a thing.
Because I got to meet Charles Baldwin.
And for me. That was Priceless!"

Pretty high praise obviously.

Yeah I saw that but it doesn't tell the whole story. 1) Bama is stupid loaded so the guys in front of him are no joke. 2) Saban's comments from earlier this spring seem to imply there was something going on w him mentally or personally that was holding him back like making bad decisions. Plus, I highly doubt he would be 3rd string here at Miami. They have the luxury to get rid of a guy like that where we don't. I say take a chance on him. Worst case scenario RS him for development and let him compete or he gets himself kicked from this team too for something stupid.

Touted JC transfer Charles Baldwin dismissed at Alabama

Offensive tackle Charles Baldwin, a four-star prospect who was considered the No. 2 junior college player in the 2016 recruiting class, has been dismissed from Alabama, the school announced Thursday.

A one-sentence statement from coach Nick Saban said Baldwin was dismissed for a violation of team rules.

Baldwin enrolled in January, and speculation was that he would be the leading contender to take over as the starter at right tackle for Dominick Jackson, who was a senior last season. But Baldwin did not live up to expectations and emerged from spring drills as a likely third-teamer.

True freshman offensive tackle Jonah Williams also enrolled in January and was much more impressive than Baldwin; he started at right tackle in the spring game after earning a lot of first-team reps during drills. Truthfully, Williams’ quick development means Baldwin’s departure doesn’t really hurt.

Baldwin (6 feet 5, 305 pounds), who is from Windsor, Conn., starred at ASA College-Brooklyn in junior college.

Sounds like Charles Baldwin did not live up to a plug and play type so bama cut him loose. Sounds like UM's Jahair Jones whom many feel has underperformed and could be asked to move on by Coach Richt.

Go Canes

Right on in your comment. They would never let a capable OL loose on the open market if he could ball. Highly likely a JAG like Jahair Jones. Maybe ASA can't develop their big guys.

Ohio Statw just lost a tackle named Schmidt and DB from Baltmore. We should kick the tires on both.

Looks like both were roster management casualties according to this article.

Ohio State lineman Grant Schmidt leaves program, 3-star DB won't enroll - Land-Grant Holy Land

Saturday morning marked a big transaction day for Ohio State football.

According to an Ohio State spokesperson, one current Buckeye and one future one won't be with the Buckeyes when they break camp this fall.

Grant Schmidt, a South Dakota product who'd been evaluated as a sizable project type, is leaving the OSU football team. The specific circumstances surrounding his departure aren't immediately known. Schmidt was redshirted last season and wasn't expected to be a prominent member of the depth chart this fall.

Three-star Baltimore, MD defensive back prospect Kareem Felder, expected to join the Ohio State football program this summer, will not be joining the team as planned. His reasons for not enrolling, be it qualifying, medical, or otherwise, were also not immediately made available, but the Columbus Dispatch's Bill Rabinowitz reported being told Felder's plan is to enroll at a prep school before attempting to join OSU at a later date.

The moves should solidify Ohio State's standing at the NCAA mandated cap of 85 scholarships heading into the 2016 football season.

Best of luck to both in their football playing and beyond futures alike.

Saban is ruthless. He wouldn't have tossed this guy if he thought he could help him win. For whatever reason, he determined this guy is a loser.

We don't need anymore losers just because some recruiting nerd was gushing about how big and strong he is like recruiting nerds always do.

He obviously sucked

Or... he actually violated team rules and had no attachment to anyone on the staff and no results on field to warrant making a "special exception". Even drug smugglers give up people to make sure the others get thru without incident. Maybe he is the sacrafice for Alabama to point at when accused of covering up ballers doing dumb stuff.
