We have momentum with Breland and Stewart this DL class can be salvaged. But losing Scott hurts…
Prepare to be devastated. We have momentum with Breland and Stewart this DL class can be salvaged. But losing Scott hurts…
Nope took him because he was cheap within budgetSo we took Russell because he’s a nice kid? And we’re slow playing other 4 star kids? Pathetic.
This is also why you absolutely cannot take 3* project QBs.
Recruiting is about momentum. Perception becomes reality.
When you take nobodies at the most important position on the football field, you’ve completely stalled momentum. It’s something that now has to be overcome.
And yeah, maybe you can overcome it and get momentum going despite that. But why even put yourself in that spot?
QBs commit early every recruiting cycle. They are the **** propaganda piece that sets the tone for the summer cycle.
You absolutely cannot have the first major shot every recruiting cycle be a 3* project.
Yep but he wants to leave and be the man instead of staying and waiting his turn which he wouldBarney is a kid from Palmetto, we gave it a shot.
Fong just dropped a CB for Stewart to OSU as well.
100% agree. And that doesn’t mean Emory can’t turn out to be a good QB. Maybe we hit on an eval just like he did with Justin Herbert.Exactly. The highest-paid coaches in the country who've already made CFB playoff appearances are recruiting QB's in a different stratosphere than our $80 million coach, which is bad enough if you look at it in a vacuum but is so much worse for anyone who saw the bigger picture all along. Coming off a 5-7 season where we trotted out a prehistoric offense and landed a really good class that lacked a premier QB, following that up by only landing another unheralded QB failed to move the needle at all at a time when we desperately needed a recruiting boost much more than many realized or were willing to admit.
- Kirby landed the #1 overall recruit and QB in Dylan Raiola this year.
- Saban has 5* QB Julian Sayin committed this year after landing a Top 100 overall recruit at the position last year in Eli Holstein.
- Day stuffed Mario in a locker for Air Noland in the spring.
[BGCOLOR=initial]- Riley landed 5* QB Malachi Nelson in last year's class as the eventual successor to Caleb Williams.[/BGCOLOR]
- Dabo landed a Top 100 overall QB in high 4* Christopher Vizzina last year.
Of course this doesn't just impact WR recruiting, but what are our chances of flipping Jeremiah Smith from OSU if all we have to sell to him is a pitch of "we'll grab a mystery QB from the portal, so don't worry" and Judd Anderson? There seems to be split opinions regarding our chances with 5* WR Ryan Wingo come December, but we're competing against a pair of big money programs in UGA (Beck, Vandagriff, Raiola) and Texas (Murphy and Manning) with loaded QB rooms. Good luck there.
Maybe now some who've buried their heads in the sand will look outside of the Miami bubble and realize that landing mid 3* QB's in back-to-back cycles is not how any serious program recruits the most important position in the sport, which should have been a massive warning sign all along. If we weren't willing to "overspend," as some put it, for Nico Iamaleava last year (we reportedly came in 2nd) or Air Noland this year (we reportedly came in 2nd), why were some presenting a narrative that we'd land the best DL class in the country across the board knowing full well those bidding wars are no less competitive than the ones for premier QB's?
Chase Young? I haven’t paid attention much but isn’t that guy a colossal bust so far? They better call up Booker Pickett son as well cause Stewart definately aint coming here. (dmv link with Chase Young selling OSU)
What does that fat Joe guy we have on staff actually do again?
Don’t think he’s been able to stay on the field.. so yeah bust so farChase Young? I haven’t paid attention much but isn’t that guy a colossal bust so far?
RespectThis hurts. Someone shared with me they are not buying the things being told to us but still. Rough weekend for our staff. I’ll take a L, too. I thought we had a good shot at this one.
100% agree. And that doesn’t mean Emory can’t turn out to be a good QB. Maybe we hit on an eval just like he did with Justin Herbert.
But at some point you have to land an elite QB. We know he can do it - he did it with Ty Thompson, the #7 QB and #40 overall recruit in 2021.
Land Stewart and the DT from Mater Dei and this doesn’t even matter.
Hurts but there’s still big fish in the sea…
So our coaches just got flat out played?
Do you believe we have the financial resources to go after the top tier player or have our booster/NIL folks gotten cold feet after the 5-7 seasonI actually know a little about the paying part via a connection. I don’t know what the story with Scott is as in his situation I feel like it’s something else.
I know we’re not doing enough to get the kids we targeted and lost and the gator has…. And that’s money unless Mario all of a sudden doesn’t know how to recruit which I don’t buy and if we are paying and still not getting our targets then we’re even more ****ed, which brings me back to Scott. There’s too many excuses on every whiff. We’ve put DLs in the league recently. We’ve beaten schools like that for players.
People are making excuses. Realistically, either the money isn’t enough or our guys can’t close on who they need to, neither of which bodes well for success.
A defensive tackle commit from Chicago has absolutely nothing to do with a QB commit from Georgia. This is a stretch. This is also why you absolutely cannot take 3* project QBs.

Let’s see how we finish. I think we will get some impact DL but we won’t get the best DL in the nation, which was the goal.We sent 2 in recently & have LT getting pre season hype. I get they have more $ then us but we still gotta have some bread, no?
