4/7/24 Game 32: Duke 15-16 L

You need those boosters to FUND the **** department. This is what our fanbase fails to understand. When you are already at a disadvantage financially, you can't afford to alienate the people you need in order to do stuff. Unfortunately, there's a very powerful group of donors, who are also our most valuable donors, that have legitimate power. They are also very clannish, and they refuse to recognize that just because they like someone, doesn't mean they are qualified.

There's a reason why they would only open the checkbook for Mario, and there's a reason why Miami hired JD. The fortunate thing is that at least Mario has a resume that justifies making the investment, and also, he's competent enough to where in theory, he should be able to get the program on track(Even though it's taking longer than any of us anticipated). JD on the other hand is a guy with an extremely low success probability, and that was from day one. Miami would have been better off with Dimare, and that's not a compliment. I'm convinced the ONLY reason Miami didn't promote Fitzroy Anthony to the Women's HC spot is because those donors don't give a **** about women's basketball and Rad, Katie Meier and the few donors that do care were able to work through an actual process without any interference.
As much as what you’re saying is correct, it’s also wrong. Big time collegiate athletics is a business. There is money hand over fist, to be made when the proper investments and hires are made. When your nepotism interferes with hiring the best candidates, you don’t make as much money, and it hinders your ability to bring in more.

Non factor. There’s more than enough talent to field routine ground balls and not run into multiple outs every weekend with bad base running. This year is no different than the past 5-10.
Correct. Instead of recruiting showcase players can we recruit baseball players we have actually seen play in some games versus 5 swings at a showcase?!!

It's a business, but unlike the typical business where leaders are tasked with delivering, and the stakeholders just grade the bottom line, the stakeholders want to have an actual say. That's the problem. You see this issue at Texas, at Texas A&M and other schools, and those schools have multiple whale donors. Miami has a clique that can grind things to a halt if their voice isn't heard or acted upon. That's college sports. You need donors, those donors know you need them and they can throw their weight around thanks to them being the reason the department is able to do anything. That's why someone like Rad is out here trying to find more donors and revenue to where he isn't as beholden to the clique.

Maybe it has to do with him not being able to hit anything past the infield diamond…just a thought.
nothing “past the infield diamond” …..How about recalibrating your ball tracker, and reassessing your statement.

youre not wrong. they care more about their influence than actual results. it literally describes miami as a whole (not the program but the area in general).

When does Rad make a statement about the program? After we get swept by FSU?
At what point does he start thinking about cleaning house? 12-18 in the ACC?

what statement does he need to make? he signed off on this dude. he has zero control over his hires. hes likely only made one hire in his time here and that was the womens coach. he didnt hire mario. he didnt hire JD. he doesnt even have the money to carry out the planned construction at UM in terms of what was initially proposed. the AD may change, but the problems are still the same. its the people within the program that are the cancers and it starts with Rudy

You’re absolutely correct. I wasn’t saying you were wrong about Miami and other loser schools who do the same. I was saying, it should be run like an actual business.

These places are loser schools bc they do this bull****. These people aren’t donating to get a return. It’s a members fee to a very exclusive club for them.

The proverbial, we believe in JD and expect great things in the future bullsh#&...or we expect a better product than what has been exhibited so far and I will evaluate the program extensively at years end.

Considering it’s baseball rather than football or men’s basketball, they almost certainly ignore it until someone asks Rad about it (could be a long time!), and then you get something along the lines of “young team,” “trust his process,” and “we believe in JD.”
