For all those dudes dreaming that Perry is going to walk in and start after a month of practice in the fall just look at what's happening with Weldon.
Weldon grew up with a dad who played QB at the highest level and was pretty advanced as a leader and well versed technically when he got here. And he's lagging behind because Rick expects perfection from his QBs. He puts a ton on the QBs plate, and that's nearly impossible for a true freshmans to master in such a short time. They start thinking too much and lose command of the huddle. Head starts swimming.
Agreed. Unless a kid is a transcendent talent, coming in and starting as a true frosh is very difficult. Even more so if not an early enrollee. And while Richt is not as conservative as the previous coach, neither is he Olive Garden in terms of risk taking.
Kaaya did it
Not saying it can't happen, but Kaaya was a bit of a special case. Ryan Williams shredded his knee and missed all spring and summer. And Kaaya was also an EE.
I agree the staff is going to give Perry a chance to be the guy. But if that doesn't happen, it doesn't mean the sky is falling or Perry won't have a great college career.
