3rd and Two at the Ten

was at the game with my friend who is a basketball junkie and watches zero college football. probably couldn't tell you any of the rules. definitely couldn't tell you any of the players or coaches. even he, who had spent the whole game on his phone using facebook and whatnot out of boredom, looked up and asked why we didn't just run it. great question.

We needed a TD there. Should have lined up and ran it twice to get the 1st down if we had too. The running game wasn't great but we didn't have too many negative plays in the run game either.

Agreed on James coming wide open.

A good play called at the wrong time is still a bad call.
it was a good call at the right time which is why mj was wide open...don't know what Morris was thinking

And this is why it wasn't a good call.

It's only a good call if it works. That's how it is.

By that logic, every busted play that turns into a positive gain is a good play call.

Are we a physical team as a whole or just physical on special teams because our D & O play soft and both coordinaters call plays that way

No. That's a faulty syllogism. A successful call isn't always a good one.

And lafflafflaff @ the idea that we'd turn on Fisch if he ran it there and got stuffed. First, I think we convert. You're even breaking a tendency. Next, the numbers are with me here, as James and Johnson both averaged over 2 YPC...and you had two cotdam downs to get there. Had we been stuffed on short yardage previously? I don't recall we were. If you can't get two yards on the ground in two downs, you're probably not good enough to win. Unfortunately, the staff didn't give the team the chance.

The fact is Morris didn't hit James, so that he was there is pointless. If I buy a winning lotto ticket, but lose it, no one's giving me a dime.
