3rd and Two at the Ten

Nope. I don't think anyone can explain why we don't run the ball and instead throw a fade to a WR that has barely if ever played before

Posted about it in another thread. Fisch was dressing up as Andy Reid for an early Halloween.

Horrible play call. Obviously they thought they had a mismatch, but really headscratching. Is Morris allowed to change the play? Check to something else? I'm hoping for Fisch's sake, because I like Fisch, that he called something and Morris inexplicably changed it to that abortion.

You've gotta take your shots in a game like this. If we can't gain 2 yards (on short yardage plays) against other opponents why would we have against the Noles?

I didn't mind the call. I liked the shot to Rashawn towards end of game too. (regardless of holding call)
I liked the onside to start 2nd half. This staff plays to win, can't blame them for that.

Morris made the wrong read on that play. When the TE went in motion it cleared the right side of the formation and MJ was wide open in the flat and coulda walked into the endzone.

This is absurd. The line is good enough to get two yards on two downs. Yes it is.

Duke averaged 3.0 and Mike 3.6.

Additionally, Morris is not very solid at finding an open man if the first read isn't there. You know this. Why do you pass there? Run. We've been ragging on Fisch for this all season, with good reason. It's infuriating. And Golden should have walked down there and told Jedd straight up what to do. That's not a good long term move if you do it in the wrong way, but if done correctly, it might have really given Fisch some much needed, real-time feedback. ****, sometimes coaches need coaching too.

Agreed on James coming wide open.

A good play called at the wrong time is still a bad call.
it was a good call at the right time which is why mj was wide open...don't know what Morris was thinking

And this is why it wasn't a good call.

It's only a good call if it works. That's how it is.
Hope that last line was sarcasm

Um no. This is football. We have the luxury of being able to immediately measure succes in terms of on-field production. This is the main problem with Fisch as it was with Whipple. A great call on the chalkboard that your players can't execute isn't a great call.

I put that on Morris. Just like when Fish was bashed during the NC state game. I think we dropped 3 TD's. His job is to get the offense in a position to score and make plays. He did that on that play. He called a dreadful game for the most part and his unit was horrendous, but on that play he got his back wideopen and it would've gone for 6 most likely. Morris missed it.

Fisch had an awful game, but this particular play was 100% on Morris. The play was to look right and see if they committed to the flat (which they didn't and it was wide open) or or the slant. It's a simple read the LBers play. Morris didn't give it a chance and thre backside to an inexperienced WR. That's on him.

So when he calls a running play there that gets eaten up in the backfield, we wouldnt be hearing about how Fisch needs stop being so predictable and conservative?

We would.. Its only a good call if there's a positive outcome..lol

Maybe, but it seemed like a single-read play. There's really not enough time to come off the fade and find something else.

I think it was a fade all the way.

I didn't like the play call for a few reasons, but the main one being Morris has shown very little skill at being able to throw that route effectively. Give your receiver a chance to make play on the ball. He threw it flat, and it sailed out of bounds.

He has "Alex Smith" syndrome on those routes. No touch on anything deep, or anything drifting toward the sideline.
