I think, we might have to just come to the realization that he’s not very good. I think Tony starts over him in the slot this year unless we get a guy in the portal.

Look, dopey, I'm just exposing the stupidity of your infinitely stupid comments. You said a Portal player will not be better than Toney, and the Portal hasn't even opened yet. You don't know who will enter the Portal, but you are already making a definitive statement.

My comment was not a knock on Toney at all. But unlike the hype addicts on this board, I'm not going to bet on true freshmen to be major starting contributors. There is nothing wrong with taking a Portal player or two to maximize Carson Beck's final year, as well as to give our true freshmen (and RS freshmen) some pressure-free room to develop.

It's not complicated. You're the dopey guy that makes it an immediate binary choice, between a true freshman who has been on campus for two months and the unknown of what the Portal will bring in two months.

like I said, we don't need any portal slot wr. sure they can come and sit behind toney..

It's all right there in your response.

We don't need anyone. A true freshman will start and force everyone else to sit. Surely this will happen, because you say so. "All of our players and coaches" have said that nobody in the country can start over Toney? That's a lie.

Never met a cane fan that doesn't want our superstar to flourish lol
 
I like Toney a bunch but we need quality depth especially at the slot. Give me 1-2 for the slot depending on RR staying or going. We also need another big body WR.

We can move JoJo to the slot but the defense isn’t going to line up a DE/Lb. To compound our issues, we only have 4 RBs so we need to limit risks of playing Pringle and Humphrey out wide.

The current WR situation appears similar to that of 2024's DB dilemma, where it was painfully obvious to everyone but the staff that help was needed in a major way. While I have no doubt that we'll pursue the top WR targets in the porthole, we'd better be willing to pay whatever it takes so that one position group doesn't ruin the season again.

We have two freshman who have elite speed and can play slot too . These kids aren’t coming to be benched especially if they’re better than what we have . Explosive players Toney and upshaw are going to play and imo Moore is going to play too. We need play makers on the field and if they’re freshman idc the best need to play
 
7 pages and going on a 20 second video of a guy doing warm up drills.

Personally I don’t know if Joseph can play receiver or not because he really hasn’t had a ton of reps in games. Maybe he sucks? I don’t really know. I do know he’s not a capable punt returner. He really struggled to gauge the distance on punts last year which led to him letting way too many of them just bounce and pick up extra yardage. Even if he could have just fair caught a lot of those punts it would have saved us tons of lost yardage.

"Wanting" and "expecting it to happen in Year 1 to the extent that you don't recruit anyone else and tell all your friends that nobody will beat out this true freshman" are two different things.

I want Toney to flourish. We should still take a WR or two in the April portal window.
