I honestly wonder why any fan cares about any detail of a spring football practice. Scrimmages, maybe.
"• Golden noted that the backup quarterback job right now is between Ryan Williams and Gray Crow with Preston Dewey in fourth. "We will see how that evolves when we get a look at them on Saturday," Golden said."
Interesting. I wonder if this is b/c Gray is exceeding expectations or if Dewey is behind. Sadly I am guessing it may be the latter if Gray and Ryan are battling it out unless they both stepped up.
-Curtis Porter was not practicing today...not sure why..could just have the day off because he wasn't in red or yellow...I can tell you on Tuesday just as practice ended he stormed off the field angry and flipped a trash can over...we'll find out from Al after practice
The ****!?!
* DT Curtis Porter and DE Shayon Green were held out of practice today, but it wasn't injury related.
"Fifth year privilege," Golden said.
Golden added of Kirby that "He had a good off-season program, is stronger. And he's just playing with more poise than he did starting the season halfway through last year."
Golden said helping Kirby's play in the middle is that "he's a very bright kid, can pick it up. He plays with a lot of confidence and is a leader. ... If he can be a Mike and the captain of the defense, we'd like to keep him there."
* Of CB Nate Dortch's play, Golden said, "I'm excited about Dortch. He's got tremendous hips, has got length. He can move laterally. We have to continue to get him stronger, add some weight to him. But I'm very encouraged by him."
"Crawford and Tracy are battling," Golden said. "Ladarius (Gunter) has been the best in the first six practices, the most focused consistently."
* Golden said he's "really excited" about Luther Robinson. "His self-confidence is growing, he's clearly stronger and in better condition than at any point last year," Golden said. "He's made great progress."
Golden said RB Dallas Crawford is impressive because of "his ability to change direction. He can really drop his hips and change direction, has a great lateral cut."

According to the Miami Herald, Mike Barrow received a phone call from 1988 asking for its moves back.
