There is an article up about the 2014 RB class. This is a very interesting quote, at least to me:
"In over a decade covering college football recruiting, the 2014 running backs was the best position group in one class I’ve ever seen," said 247Sports Director of Scouting Barton Simmons. "Because we project to the NFL draft and because the NFL rarely drafts running backs in the first round, traditionally we’re reluctant to give five-stars to that position on 247Sports."
I didn't know that 247 rankings were based, apparently in significant part, on projected NFL draft status for 17-18 year olds. Pretty interesting if you think about all the college difference makers that don't project as high draft picks, or certainly didn't coming out of high school. Also interesting to think about the 5 star studs that end up in the first round.
