We have a coach that would be the first to tell you that recruiting class rankings matter, while at the same time having fans basically saying, “f*ck the rankings, trust Coach Cristobal.”

You just can’t explain that.
it’s tiresome when the data completely destroys the narrative. Don’t like data? It has destroyed almost all anecdotal evidence as well. How long have people touted our 3 stars to be better than the sites have them ranked only to show that the sites probably were overrating them?

DMoney was the source there too - quite literally said Mario will be the first to tell you that stars matter (as will hundreds of pages of data).

You can certainly be in the boat that says it’s too early to panic and be concerned with the state of the class. That’s fine. But those going out of their way to justify the current quality of it are beyond asinine.

Mario is the source.

Dude has been an unapologetic star ***** his entire career. It’s not something you need to be plugged into to know.

The truth is: all the big time coaches are.

Kirby Smart can literally read off to you the recruiting rankings of his team.

The reality is almost all our 3 stars, except 1, maybe 2 will remain 3 stars. It is rare players move up hundreds of spots in rankings. And in the case of our 3 stars, most are ranked extremely low. People need to accept there will easily be double digit 3 stars in this class unless guys are dropped and replaced with blue chippers.

I know rankings aren't the end all be all in terms of measurement, but more often than not, they are correct (im talking about disparities (a guy that is a four-five star vs 2-3 star). they dont just underrate kids that poorly imo. as you said, look at Kirbys rankings. those kids are elite that he recruits and have NFL talent. combine it w good coaching and they develop. conversely, look at the QBs (Kirbys fatal flaw pre monk), he recruited the highest end talents but those kids never panned out (aside from Fromm who was a manager at best). Fields didnt get a ton of burn but was misused when he did and then takes off at OSU to be a first round pick at QB (a spot known for QB development)

Someone tell Texas to lower ($) that bag since Jayden Jackson dropped.

Btw, what's up with the ongoing Jason Taylor PR campaign on Twitter?

There was some confusion last night as to whether or not rankings got updated…can confirm On3 updated theirs, so composite scores changed. Below are some notable recruits (including ours) that moved on On3 and changed their composite ranking.

Marquise Lightfoot: moved up 4 spots to 63.

Kevin Riley: moved up 13 spots to 70.

Chance Robinson: dropped 2 spots to 151.

Elijah Lofton: dropped 2 spots to 351.

Cameron Pruitt: moved up 50 spots to 460.

Isaiah Thomas: dropped 15 spots 588.

Ryan Mack: dropped 76 spots to 594.

Dylan Day: dropped 18 spots to 679.

Vincent Shavers: moved up 69 spots to 702.

Chris Wheatley-Humphrey: dropped 9 spots to 745.

Derc Plazz: moved up 132 spots to 897.

Romanas Frédérique: dropped 15 spots to 901.

Juan Minaya: moved up 110 spots to 1015.

Judd Anderson: dropped 17 spots to 1095

Daylen Russell: dropped 22 spots to 1159.

Prospects we supposedly have a good chance to land..

David Stone: dropped 1 spot on the composite to 6.
Dylan Stewart: dropped 1 spot on the composite to 10.
Josiah Trader: dropped 3 spots to 25.
Aydin Breland: moved up 4 spots to 34.
Kamarion Franklin: dropped 1 spot to 45.
Chris Cole: up 96 spots to 59.
Zaquan Patterson: dropped 2 spots to 76.
Isendre Ahfua: dropped 12 spots to 110.
Zavier Mincey: moved up 8 spots to 122.
LJ McCray: moved up 7 spots to 128.
Artavius Jones: remained at 163.
Lawayne McCoy: dropped 2 spots to 244.
TJ Lindsey: dropped 3 spots to 304.
Jayden Jackson: dropped 13 spots to 446.
Kendall Jackson: dropped 8 spots to 463.

Of those first two groups:

Severely underrated:
CWH
Day

Underrated:
Mack
I Thomas
Ahfua
Anderson
K.Jackson
J.Jackson

Overrated: (Doesn't mean I don't like the kid or see their upside)
Cole

Of the "others group"
Underrated: Q.Flowers, Z.Madison, W.Gilmore, K.Lacy

Overrated: J.Howard, K.Duff, C.Simmons (Again, relative to rankings)

The two 3 stars that had the biggest jumps are Minaya and Plazz, which supports not being too concerned about Mario's OL evals. But as for the others...outside Shavers and Pruitt, all the other 3 stars dropped. But still many re-ranks to go...
Mack and Frederique dropping is ridiculous tho

That funny because I don't see it at all with Minaya, but I do see big upside with Judd and a solid safe option with Russell. Russell was Dade DPOY so he at least has shown something.

Judd is 6'6 over 200 that has a good arm and is a good athlete. That is the definition of upside at the QB position.
This!!! Soooo I was able to get a hold of some film from their visit to the UGA 7 on 7, and I must say that he looks better than he did at any point last year. They won this competition. Now that being said, LET ME SAY THIS…. I realize that, 7 on 7 is not real football…. but what i was looking at, was if he was making the correct reads, and getting the ball to correct people. That was something he struggled with last year. My buddy, who “procured” 🤣 this film, is a DB coach, at a rival school. Can’t tell y’all how he got it, but we watched it, and he made the comment more than once, “Fucc, this muhfucca don got better!” Yeah I agree, he looks better then last year, but again 7 on 7, is not real football. I’m gonna reserve my judgement, for the season. I do expect him to be better being that it’s his 2nd year in that offense.

Are we officially crossing over to eval/development program or still too soon to tell? We have two that are pretty safely top 100. Don’t see Chance jumping 50 spots. Half of our class will be below 500 overall. I don’t see Day, Shavers, CWH, Plazz, Frédérique, Manaua, Anderson, or Russell jumping hundreds of spots. Even with “whales,” we are going to be very top heavy.

Can someone explain to me what I’m missing with this guy? His stats are ridiculous and if I’m not mistaken he plays good comp.

Chris Wheatley-Humphrey: dropped 9 spots to 745.
