247 is doing rating update Monday @12 est

He was never top 10 in the elite 11 or 247 rankings.
So, he's under 20, but still ranked in the 30's.

FYI, ESPN had him 12th before the Elite 11 finals.

What does ESPN know that these other sites don't?

I don't think they know more or less although I'd argue they are the least vested in recruit rankings. Rankings are always gonna be subjective ideally the ranges should be similar.

I think 247Sports should change their composite formula which IS'NT transparent in how they use the other 3 recruiting services. Are they weighted equally in the composite?

1. I would suggest that they make the composite formula transparent.
2. I would throw out rankings that differ by some range of standard deviations.

No one should be upset with 247’s update. We came out +165 spots. Basically everyone moved up or stayed the same.

Our LB targets were the only ones to move down.

If it wasn’t for On3 we’d have 2 more composite 5 stars. They deserve all the smoke

THAT’S ALL I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS ENTIRE TIME. Lol

All this vitriol thrown at 247 was aimed at the wrong entity; it should’ve always been aimed at On3. I’m not sure what their algorithm is, but they’ve mucked up our class’ ratings tremendously. B/c they do not have a proven product yet, despite the reputation of its founder, they should not be treated or used as a credible recruiting sourced rating right now. Stories/interviews? Sure, but in no way should they be included in the composite.

At the end of the day, I like where we stand as a program & our players. I have my own separate board; for me w/ the NFL season coming up (FFB) & we’re in the heat of recruiting, this is my favorite time of the off season. We’ve hit on majority of the guys I’ve personally wanted. Innis is a kid I wanted, but I understand his decision, along w/ Hicks. But, the staff is knocking it out the ball park, despite what On3 is saying.

It is so ridiculously stupid how far apart On3 is from 247 here. There is no perfect solution but it is ridiculous they have Rashada at 193 and 247 has him at 17. Rivals has him at 30. Consensus is in the 40-50 range. On3 isn't even having the same conversation as everyone else.
Which if you are starting a recruiting service from scratch is probably the best way to grow the brand. I have paid little to no attention to ESPN or Rivals rankings but this board has talked about on3 ad nauseam. This is generating an absurd number of clicks. Once the brand grows I’m sure they’ll calibrate more to the mean with their evaluations.

But 247 allowed On3 to matter.

They did, & I know y, which is on them. I’m saying it’s not 247 rankings that’s ******** us over, but rather On3
They can change their composite formula which we don't even know how they calculate it.

They could simply throw out any ranking that deviates by some standard deviation range. This way, A recruiting service ranking a player so much lower or so much higher than the others would be excluded. If they are so far off on a majority of the recruits, the formula would exclude them making their service irrelevant.

Good suggestion. I do, however, believe On3 will eventually become a premiere site. But right now, it’s HEAVILY $EC biased, & I’m not sure they have the prerequisite man power to do honest, nationwide evaluations at this stage. Their ratings r way off compared to the more established recruiting services

My suggestion would apply to everyone. So, even 247Sports could have one of their own player rankings thrown out of the composite under my formula.

It's not only the star ranking, it's the position. One kid could be rated #36 overall recruit and a 4-star by 3 recruiting services, and then the 4th service rates him as a 4-star, but #296. Huge difference.

You can be a little provocative but you don’t want to be so unreasonable that you gain a reputation of being out of touch and biased. A reputation like that can stick long term.

ESPN splits their QBs with Pocket Passers and Dual threats. He's the 12th best Pocket Passer but probably somewhere around 20 overall.
