I don't have a clue why coaches who have never proven themselves get long contracts. 2 years should be the max, these schools are nuts.
It’s the agents man. No agent will allow his client to accept a two year deal so you will never get a reputable coach to come in.

And plus schools would negative recruit (even though a long contract doesn’t guarantee a coach will still be there).

But I agree college and pro teams have likely burned through billions of dollars in bad contracts.

That would be a great investigative article. Calculate the billions of dollars in bad contracts to players and coaches the last 20 years (professional and college).

I would think Charlie Weis would be in the top ten.
 
And here come the racists smh. When teams hire a crappy white coach and unjustly give him a contract extension (Al Golden) no one says it was a white privilege hire but when a team hires a bad black coach the racists say it was affirmative action hire (implying the black coach never deserved the job in the first place).
Taggert never deserved that job in the first place
Nothing to do with affirmative action, just a terrible hire, that writing was all over every wall
