The 6-foot-1, 185 pounder from Miami, Florida is considered one of the top players in the country regardless of position. Dopson is currently ranked as a top-15 player in the country as well as being ranked the No.2 CB. As a sophomore at Norland, Dopson was credited for three interceptions and 16 total tackles in only 11 games and named a MaxPreps All-American for his efforts.

The Norland product possesses all the tools to become an elite corner at the next level: length, physicality, and speed. Dopson also runs track, just recently setting a Norland school record for the 200 meter.

Dopson visited multiple games last fall, in attendance for both Hurricane wins over Florida State Miami appears headed back to their roots when it comes to the secondary, building strong classes for both 2026 and 2027.and Duke. In addition, Dopson was part of the star studded line-up of unofficial visitors for week one of spring practice, and follows the path of 2026 DB Jaelen Waters in committing to the ’Canes after week one.

“I’ve been a Hurricanes fan since I can remember, I was born into it,” said Dopson.

While there was clear interest from Dopson’s side, in an age of NIL and constant competition from rival schools, Miami still had to get him over the line. Once again, new defensive backs coach Zac Etheridge was hard at work in securing his future chess pieces. Like with Waters, Etheridge made a strong impression on Dopson with his game plan and communication with him.

Miami beat out nearly 30 other teams who offered Dopson, namely in-state rivals Florida and Florida State. Dopson becomes only the second commit in the 2027 class, joining American Heritage WR Ah’mari Stevens in the class. While the ’Canes are in full swing with their 2026 class, it’s encouraging to see Cristobal & co. securing the top talents in South Florida early.

"16 total tackles in only 11 games" should have been workshopped a little more.
