2025 Preseason

That’s the ideology defensively. The catcher and center fielder are going to be very good defensively. 2B is middle of the road. I think we have athleticism on the mound so probably can field the position.

Coincidentally it’s everywhere other than up the middle, plus SS.. which could be fine if they play DeGoti.
I'd say shortstop is one of the positions that probably should be worried about much less than it actually is. Not to be rude, but what do you see in Ogden that limits him so badly at shortstop?

Beyond the feedback I have got from a former player that I played with that has been there (I haven’t been to a practice myself)… Saw him play it in the Coastal Plains league in the summer of 2023. SS and 2B - looked rough at both. I think he fielded under .800 that summer.

He’s not a middle infielder. He’s an average defensive 3B. You can’t take an average 3B and assume they’re even average at SS.

I think the lineup has the makings of a pretty good one especially in terms of balance when it comes to lefties and righties. We haven't had good pitching since 2019 so we are due.

Feels good to finally have some optimism. This team is really hard to predict, but the ceiling is higher than many give credit for.

I hope you guys are right. I tend to go into every football season the way some of you are going into this baseball season.

But just being around the game so long I'm really worried this year may be close to rock bottom. And unlike some I hope I'm 100% wrong, this team gets an identity and scraps, claws, and finds ways to win. But forget about what is likely an average offense and fairly poor pitching. Lets assume they over perform. If we are as bad on defense as it seems....yikes.

I get what you mean. On my end, I'm never going to disrespect guys that I was teammates with. With that being said, I still think last year was more of a rock bottom and that this year at a minimum will be a step back in the right direction.

We have the makings of a team that is going to perform better in the mid-week with a more consistent offense, that will feast on average pitching, and then a deeper pitching staff to put a decent product out for those games. That has plagued us for years.

With only that improvement, it will look better on the surface. How dominant they can actually be in the mid-week is to be seen. We have a tougher mid-week than most teams in the country by nature of our location and proximity to other quality programs.

As for weekends, I guarantee you its the exact same thing. Won't hit good pitching. Starting pitching will get shelled aside from a solid outing from Hugus and the occasional gem by one of the other guys. The defense might go as far as ruining the gems we do throw.

Win-win situation. Speed up the process to get rid of JD or he exceeds expectations. Don't think there's much in-between.

This is what I was thinking. It also in the scheme of things should help the next guy turn it around relatively quickly. Maybe the turnover year bottoms us out. But then a massive leap in year two.

our early games used to be typically a way to get out to basically 15-2 or however many games prior to acc play. Now between Florida, UConn, a few regional schools we have to play good ball to get to 10-12 wins.

Well spoken.
Last season on Friday night we had a legit chance to win ...it was painful to watch the bullpen take over.
Our middle relief and closers will be the key to winning 33-34 games this season.

Well I think that Galvin, Marsh, and Ogden especially Galvin should be able to hit good pitching but the rest who knows. Dorian will probably hit closer to .280 than .300.
