Go back and check LCE' stream.
Stream??? His posts??? He has a zillion posts. I simply asked when he said this. Responding with “recently” or “a while back” would suffice for context.

**** it, @Memnon , hate to do this but I want to make sure there’s proper context. I can’t imagine that you affirmatively posted that Trader is coming to UM recently. Can you please clarify when you might have held this view? I could see it a while back but not in the last month or two.

In March of 2022, I believed he was coming here because when I asked him he said so & knowing people in his family they’re mostly Canes fans & he himself also grew up a Canes fan, so I thought he might be a rare occurrence...

But a year later, nope.

Thanks man. I remember you saying something positive about our chances but I thought it had been a while. I didn’t want to leave that open on here as if it was recent.

Some smart guy said "Do we need some "outcomes" and some wins to validate the new approach? Sure." But by all means, keep moping.

As for the national rankings geting "more accurate every year", that's just bull****. There were CONSTANT complaints about on3 (and by extension, the composite) last year alone.

Yeah, there’s constant complaints about everything.

But you *literally* have no evidence that the complaints are valid, or that the composite has become less accurate.

thats just sad. either way, ive always said it will hard to get an elite skill position on board till we show it on the field. not shocked that these are the issues before we even take a snap w the new staff. if dawson is good, well be okay overall i think. if not, Kliff surely wants to do more than be a QBC right?

Absolutely do have evidence. For instance, we see recruit after recruit having NO RANKING, and then suddenly they get a 3 or 4 star evaluation five minutes after a top program offers them. Again, the resources that P5 schools currently have DWARF that of the diluted "national services", which are overwhelmed by the number of guys they must evaluate. It's easy to pick out the Top 50 or Top 100, but after that, it's sketchy as **** with the recruiting services, and they heavily rely on what they hear from P5 coaches as to the players they are targeting.

All you have to do is analyze the changes to the calendar and you can see what else contributes to the human-centipede process that is the "national services". It was one thing when 95% of kids signed in February, and a massive number of official visits took place in January. You could use the entire fall football season to evaluate kids AS SENIORS and get a better sense of the evaluation of both measurables (height-weight-speed) and production.

But now, everything is fvcked up. 85 to 90 percent of these kids either sign in December or are verbally committed and just waiting until February to finalize the signature. As has been described elsewhere, now most of the visits (by percentage) are taking place in the spring/summer, many of them being "unofficials", and with the "official" largely becoming a fall formality. As a result, offers (and verbals) are happening earlier and earlier than ever. And as a direct result of THAT, the "national services" are already tipped off to who the best players are, by virtue of SEC/Big 10 offer lists.

And we have seen OVER AND OVER AGAIN that a majority of Rivals/247/on3 "rankings updates" after the summer before senior year are HEAVILY impacted by "SEC/Big 10 fans whining about their verbals not being ranked high enough and demanding bumps, otherwise their subscribers are going to stop paying for annual subscriptions, because WAAAAAAAHHHH". If you honestly believe that the last 4 or 5 "recruiting updates" are the product of intrepid reporters and evaluators going out on Friday nights to reevaluate certain players...well, I have some beautiful swampland in Florida to sell to you. The reality is that (a) the Rivals/247/on3 writers don't like to admit they were wrong, and (b) they only grant "rankings updates" when the various fanbases pressure them to do so.

Finally, to the extent that you have been deluded into believing "the ranking services have become more accurate", it's because you don't grasp what has been happening. Because the ORDER of things has been reversed. The ranking services have become so beholden to the horse-race aspect of recruiting, that they are now basing their rankings on what all the coaches tell them off-the-record about particular recruits. The rule of "coaches can't comment on recruits prior to signing" is fine for press conferences, but it is routinely violated in private comments. Thus, all of these "reporter/evaluator" types are not ranking these kids off of independent evaluation of film and camps and stats...they are building their lists by what P5 coaches tell them about their targeted recruits. Thus the whole **** thing becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. So is it any wonder why the biggest and best schools end up with the best classes? Sure, you can get a handful of movers/shakers who can buck the trend by outrecruiting their slot in life, and you can have programs that **** the bed for numerous years with highly-ranked classes that they fail to develop...

But other than that, let's not pretend that Rivals and 247 and on3 are some kind of magical influence-free independent thinkers who have superior access and/or knowledge with which to accurately assess hundreds and hundreds of recruits every year.

nope like he ain’t coming here at all?

thank you for the info!

I know OSU was on him very hard at the beginning of the year . He was a priority, I haven’t checked of late. Early on I was told it was then and UM. The last couple months I’ve heard more FSU. I haven’t asked about OSU though.
I think we can all take some pretty well educated guesses as to why top WR recruits haven't been picking Miami, but I am curious as to what the staff believes the main issues are? Obviously a school like OSU has a track record that helps them, but when we lose out to schools like FSU or UF, what does the staff believe the issue is?

Do they think it was just Gattis and WRs will want to come again after our offense shows a better passing game? Do they think it is a lack of big name QBs (which could also be attributed to Gattis). Do they think it is Mario's rep of wanting to run and if so how are they attempting to counter this? Again expecting this season to prove that is not the case?

I guess in short, what do they believe is the biggest thing causing WRs to go elsewhere and what are they trying to do to counter that besides NIL (which I am sure is part of the countering strategy).

A couple of 2024 WR recruits (one I believe that is a commit to OSU) have stated clearly "I want to see how the offense performs in 2023". So yes ... Mario / Dawson need to demonstrate that UM can actually run an effective offense, score points, with a vertical passing game being used frequently and effectively. They want to see a couple of WR's and TE's putting up stats and getting recognition ... the type recognition that gets a talented WR drafted in the first two rounds.

The problem is you can’t rely that they will stick to that statement.

How many games do they need to actually see for them to flip from ohio state or not go to another frontrunner program?

Let’s take J smith. If osu gets to the playoffs or even wins it all. How much would it take for us to actually flip him?

The players that commit are gonna believe in what they and they coaches can do and not what mashup of transfers and young guys do in Mario’s second year.

it’s simple, the players on the west coast saw what Mario did and believe in him.
The sofla players have been brainwashed to believe that not even Saban can fix Miami. An 8 or 9 win season with a good offense isn’t gonna change Smith’s mind.

Riley Williams was the 4th ranked tight end and decided to follow Mario across the country to a team that won 5 games.
He could’ve gone back home to Oregon and played for the premier Nike school in a team that was built by Cristobal.

But the local 5 stars gotta wait and see?

This is why Mario is recruiting nationally. I’m sure he would love to land the elite of sofla.
But if they’ve been brainwashed or dreaming of front-running then he isn’t gonna wait till nsd to see if they change their mind.
