Spencer was the Scarlet Knights’ leading scorer and best shooter last season, his first and only in Piscataway. He averaged 13.2 points on 44.4% shooting on 10 shots per game — 45.3% on twos, 43.4% on threes, 89.4% on free throws — to go with 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and two steals in 31.5 minutes per game.

Spencer hit huge shots and had big games in key spots: a game-winning three-pointer at Mackey Arena against No. 1 Purdue, a go-ahead three-pointer on the road against Northwestern that silenced the packed crowd, a 22-point explosion in a massive win over Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. He hit more three-pointers in a single season (72) than any Scarlet Knight had since Mike Rosario knocked down 74 in 2008-2009, and he did so at the highest clip (43.4%) of any Rutgers player in a decade.
