That's too logical and obvious so Mario won't do it. I've never seen a person try to self sabotage as much as Mario.

Rueben Bain needs to drop some weight if he wants to play edge again. JAG-like this year, and no it wasn’t the injury. He’s been back for months.

Fire the entire defensive staff and let the new DC decide if he wants to retain anyone. That’s how a competent coach does it; not some meathead behavior trying to shove his handpicked assistants with a new scheme. It doesn’t work.
 
We will see, but I haven't gotten the same feedback on Nick and JT that was the case mid season. Their units were bad across the board. So bad, I don't see anyone making it. If I were to pick one to make it that would be JT because recruiting. That being said, you could talk to 3 people who have gotten info from 3 different people around the program at times and it's all different. Sometimes it's mostly the same. Some BS coach talk, the staff loves Jacurri and Emory and they failed Emory last night. I would be more upset with our QB situation if our D wasn't in such dire circumstances. 41 points and you lose. Embarrassment!

apparently our only scheme is Guidry being stubborn to prove hes smarter than JT

Critical whoever we bring in as DC has complete control and can hire their guys across the board or said differently interview the guys who are here, no guarantees.

1st time seeing this unit live yesterday. I wanted to see if what I saw on tv all year would be any different live. Nope it was even worse. Let’s ignore the atrocious scheme, late signals/subs, the embarrassing stunts and discuss just overall juice on the d line unit:

We have none of it on our d line. Zero speed off the edge, zero moves or counters. Just an overall really mediocre unit live.

How Scott, horton, light foot, etc got no burn yesterday when We were subbing like hockey line checks is beyond me… and because of that I am worried about all of those names entering portal

I think some of the young guys are showing promise but we’re going to need Bain to lose weight and get healthy and another good portal DE and better coaching here for next year. I’m not sure the Gold Jacket coach is anything more than a recruiter.

It's the scheme. If we change the D coordinator and let Taylor coach his style of rushing the passer we will see what these kids can do.
 
Mario has the coaches on the offensive side of the ball. Would we not be in a much better spot if we asked Muschamp to come in and bring all of his boys with him? There does seem to be a lack of cohesion between position coaches on D. I say make the call.

I mean, under normalized schemes for a typical DC, JT would probably be fine. but this 3-4 over look as a base, is strange to teach.

How do you teach a SDE 4tech to keep contain? Especially when you have a off the line TE on your side, while being in a NT stance? Literally no matter the coaching, your effed. Its as if Guidry has no semblance of the front 7 because he only played SAF and even the back end is super weird and communication is off.

Defense is pretty simple, have gap integrity (and one guy always takes on two bodies) in the front 7, and in the back end, make it simple, so communication is quick and alignment is fast and complete. Due to the crazy amount of pre and post snaps motions and shifts.
Know where the weakness in your defense lies (i.e., if you leave the short side flats open, you probably have pressure coming from the weakside and have a front side DE roaming on the LOS because you expect the QB to roll that way due to pressure).

This game isn't effin hard. Beat the guy in front of you and play fundamental football thats been there since the 40s.

That's the defensive alignment (i.e., coached up by alignment) then just the DEs, mind you a player would just say eff that and i know what coming and cause a trainwreck of bodies.
 
I’d fire every single coach affiliated with the defense. **** Jason Taylor. I don’t give a **** if he’s a HOF. The DL was just as bad as the DB’s and LB’s. Bain is a fat**** who needs to lose weight or move inside. Overrated South Florida ****. Barrow was the only one worth a **** on the DL. Moten just jumped offsides again. Baron and Alston were overrated as ****.

the defense can definitely improve with 1 offseason. Even if they had the same personnel but a better Defensive staff you would still see progress. Looks like they are hitting DBs hard but they will still have holes in the LB and DL room, even then it not like we didn’t have holes in those rooms this year so just get a better coach and defensive staff.
