Miami fans tradition like none other. Freshman makes some good plays, has some good games, and they are a superstar. When in reality they are a good player, that's not a superstar yet, but fans have already labeled them that. Case in point, Rueben Bain. Good player, but fans got way out over their skies including me. He put on too much weight, maybe he got fat and happy. He obviously got injured this season, but he is not some dominating force when he played. He had an elite game vs. Clemson that sorta put him on the map, but that performance hasn't been quite duplicated yet.
He needs to bust his tail this offseason, tune his body, lose a little weight, and come back with a vengeance in 2025. The defense needs it.
We have OJ now. He has been glazed by Miami fans like he is Champ Bailey. He is good, real good for a freshman, but he isn't a superstar cover CB like many have the opinion. He needs to keep the same attitude and work ethic all offseason to become a superstar, not rest on any Freshman AA honors.
Francis Mauigoa kept improving from year 1 to 2. He was much much better this season than last. He makes more improvements he is first team AA next season, and 1st round pick 2025.
Some of latest players getting that glaze is Jordan Lyle, he is a good freshman RB, but he isn't a top 30 back nationally. He averaged 3.8 YPC yesterday and Martinez was over 8 YPC? Big difference. Fletcher was about his season average in YPC, little over 5. This RB room isn't going to get better by losing Martinez, you hope improvements in offseason can try to get close to the level. I also think Lyle can be very very good, but he has a long ways to go. Fletcher ball security is suspect.
JoJo, 3 catches 61 yards 1 TD, and you think we have Jerry Rice on twitter. He also has a long ways to go, still slight, but has some tools. He needs to gain about 7 pounds this offseason, I think could go a long ways for him.
