2023 2023 CB Malik Muhammad

Getting Texas Corners to visit Miami more than once is big, typically they only show up when they’re in Miami for Adidas 7v7 camps, but he’s showing up on his own accord just because we’re recruiting him, so the interest is definitely legit.

It will come down to how hard we go for OOS targets like him vs how we feel about the FL targets at CB.

I’m the biggest proponent of Tejas CB’s on the board, I post them waaay more than I do Florida kids, I’m actually more plugged in Texas than I am in FL to be honest, it’s just our previous staffs have never really tried to recruit there too heavy.

But I been saying since 2017/2018 them kids are super receptive to The U brand more than we think, we just never put forth the effort to get them & I know it for a fact because I’ve lived & coached in Tejas before and have great relationships with a number of coaches down there.

They took 3 last year too, and they were 3 **** good ones.

I don’t think this kid cares about that though honestly, just a hunch. I think we are sitting 3rd at best here behind TAMU and Bama. JMO.
TAMU got Malik’s teammate Jayvon Thomas to commit so they’re recruiting them as a package deal.

But I think Malik is a kid that if you stay on him you can convince him to go his own way.

I still think he’ll give his verbal to TAMU, but we should stay on him throughout the process until ENSD.

He is too good not to keep pursuing.

6’0 170lbs 4-star CB out of Dallas TX, goes to 5A school South Oak Cliff

Finished his Junior season with 68tcks 6PBU’s & 3INT’s

Played on a really good 5A team that went 15-1 on the season winning their State championship vs Liberty Hill, their only loss on the season was against powerhouse Duncanville.

Versatile two-way athlete that plays WR, Nickel, Boundary & Safety. He’s very good against the run engaging & shedding blockers to get after the ball carrier & has good tackling skills in the open field. He’s raw a pure cover corner, they mostly play him at Nickel & Safety & is primarily an off cover zone style corner, he plays a lot of bail technique, but in the instances where he had to lineup in press man playing bump & run, he displayed good physicality. He has a very natural fluid hips in his speed turn & has very good ball skills, WR hands & athleticism. But, tends to two-hand jam too much & that can be dangerous for a CB who doesn’t really play the position as much, needs to be taught how to be a true corner, is more athlete that CB, but has very good tools & high athletic upside. Good speed, long stride runner & great arm length, literally has a WR build but playing at DB, A+ traits.

His teammates Jayvon Thomas & his twin brother Abdul are also high 4-star CB’s in the 23 class. They all play for Team Flex 7v7 out of Dallas & are coached by one of the best DB coaches in the area Coach Flight (who I’ve mentioned before when we were recruiting Ennis Rakestraw & Marvin Covington).

He had a top 12 in November, which we were not in.
With McClain apparently out of reach, this is the best CB we're in it for. He's been here twice this year.
Now like Alec Baldwin said in Glengarry Glen Ross, A.B.C.
