Difference is Louisville went 4-28 last season and also lost in last year's exhibition game to Division 2 (Lenoir-Rhyne).

Don't think I can recall us losing a preseason game to a sub D1 school. We've lost regular season non-conference games before, but losing to a D-2 or D-3 school is a completely different beast

Northeastern in 2015 and they were returning a squad that had just won their conference and made the tourney

One of the worst CBB hires in recent memory. Payne was essentially their Randy Shannon - i.e, former player, successful assistant, but has absolutely zero business being a HC at this level. I get the unknown at the time given the NCAA stuff but there were way better hires that could have been made.
