Apparently Dom tripled in the tying run earlier in the game. What’s going on up there today?

Pitelli’s overall form is very similar to the end of the season. Batting .136 overall (3 for 22) coming into the game with a HR and 2 RBI. 6K/1BB.

CJ is off to a strong start, batting .348 (8 for 23) with 3 RBI. 4K/1BB.

Levenson hit a homer a couple nights ago, but has been off to a slow start overall. He’s batting .179 (5 for 28) with 1 HR and 5 RBI. 6K/3BB with 1 HBP. I caught one of his ABs on ESPN+ Sunday: He popped out in foul territory with runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. It felt very familiar. Luckily, the Northwoods League is endless, and he has many opportunities in front of him to get things going.

Wausau is back on ESPN+ on Sunday with Kalamazoo’s games airing Mon-Wed.

Alex Toral is playing for a collegiate summer league team called the State College Spikes. Didn't know 10-year seniors played summer ball.

The Spikes are part of the MLB draft League. It’s only 2 years old. It’s got a lot of long shot draft kids who are trying to show something in a wood bat league. Somebody may take a shot on him due to his power. But it would be a waste of a pick. He will get eaten up in high A ball.

Northwoods League
Gaby Gutierrez is no longer on the Kalamazoo roster. He hit .250 (4 for 16) with a HR and 2 RBIs in his four games. 3BB/1K. 2 HBP.

Villegas is still on the roster but hasn’t played in a week. He was off to a great start, batting .450 (9 for 20) with a HR and 9 RBIs. 9K/8BB with an HBP and 2 SB. 1.371 OPS. .621 OBP.

Garcia is actually playing. He’s batting .275 (14 for 51) with 9 RBI. 19K/8BB. 2 for 4 on stolen base attempts. .625 OPS.

Levenson has picked things up of late. His batting average is .273 (12 for 44) with a HR and 8 RBI. 8K/5BB with 2 HBP. .759 OPS.

Valley League
Jacoby Long is batting .283 (13 for 46) with 8 RBI in 11 games. 3K/3BB and 2 SB.

Renzo is off to a .395 start (15 for 38) with 9 RBI in 10 games. 9K/5BB. 4 SB.

Perez is batting .235 (4 for 17) with 3 RBI and a stolen base(!). 2K/2BB.

I’m just going to say Jones is off to a tough start and leave it there.

NECBL
Rafe has made one start in 3 appearances. He’s 1-0 with a 4.21 ERA in 10.2 IP with 10K/2BB. 11 hits allowed seems to have offset his seeming improved control vs the spring.

Gallo is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA over 12 innings. He’s made two starts in his 3 appearances. 19K/4BB. He’s allowed just four hits.

Dorian is batting .297 (11 for 37) with 4 RBI. 5K/3BB.

Torres has made 4 appearances with an ERA of 0.00. 12K/2BB. Just two hits allowed in 6.1 innings.

Garland has continued his up and down form from late in the season. His most recent outing ballooned his ERA to 5.1 in 12.1 innings. 14K/3BB.

While searching teams we’ve had any recent connection with for transfer clues, I did find one surprising listing for the University of Miami:

I highly doubt he’s coming back, although it’s weird that they didn’t use a more recent team. I can’t really figure out where he transferred.

I think he sat out the year.

The Hyannis Twitter admin sure loves Rosario. In fairness, I’d have loved him too with a *double checks notes* 1.74 ERA and .87 WHIP. He has 13K/1BB in 10.1 Cape innings.

Where was this command on Sundays this past spring? Can we pull a Bama move and hire the Hyannis coach and the family he's living with and bring them to Coral Gables for next year's regular season?

Having watched the Cape League for decades, pitching has dominated since they went to wood bats. It would be interesting to see an analysis of performances, side by side, of college pitchers during season and in the summer.

Good point, but he's getting ahead and throwing a lot more strikes apparently than he did during the regular season.
