I got a question. Yall remember when Diaz came in with Richt and he said he simplified the defense so Shaq, Pinckney and McCloud to a lesser extent were able to play, And our defense made an immediate turn around, Why is that same thing not being done? Its seems to me the LBs keep getting victimized, some of them have been on the program 4 years. McCloud been in it 10 years and he got so bad where he had change position. Did Diaz make the scheme more complex or was Shaq and Pinckney that much smarter than anyone we have. Or was it Redwine and Jaquan back there keeping it together? For your defense to be good you either have to have the most talent or a bunch 3 and 4 year guys. We have a bunch of them in the back 7, yet they are some of the most inconsistent players. Its really inexcusable since Diaz has been here 6 years now.

Bama is really gonna test those LBs. If we cant stop the run they will keep smashing it at us and then play action will destroy us. Who is gonna cover the middle of the field. Those safeties need to step up cuz im not sure we have one healthy backer who can, and even then the backers have to cover the flats, something they seem to always be a step late to.

This is Manny's first official season as the DC we don't know what is or isn't happening yet. I think Shaq and Pink were better than anyone currently on roster to this point but he very well could be instilling the same concept. If not for physical limitations Shaq would have been elite. No one stands out as potentially elite currently.

What are you saying? Diaz was the DC when Ivey and that class of players came in. Hall, Gilbert etc. And Baker was supposedly running the same scheme. So that's why confused why some of these older players like McCloud looked worse than when they arrived. Shaq and Pinckney knew where to be from day 1. And that's what im not seeing from alot of the guys we have at LB.

Like I mentioned, even on most of the offenses’ big plays, DB’s were draped on the receivers in coverage; it was just a superior pitch and catch by the QB/WR. On an individual level, DJ Ivey had the biggest standout day in terms of activity with multiple PBU’s. He made a nice effort on one play after Key’Shawn Smith got a few steps on him on a go-route, showing great make-up speed to recover and break up the pass; although, IF HE GOT HIS HEAD AROUND, it would have been an interception opportunity.
We still doing this?? The CB specialist Rumph still resides in these kids.

Meaning the last 2 years he wasn't the DC he just had input, this is his first year back in that role. There were some concepts the same but play calling and coverages under Baker obviously weren't what we ran when Manny was DC previously. Mccloud is said to have been playing out of position so maybe there is hope. Otherwise we haven't brought in any blue-chip LB prospects we've had some guys with good attributes but nothing anyone would call elite.

I don't think we need blue chip LBs to have a proper defense. If they are fast and get the proper coaching they can dominate the ACC, now when you are upping your level to challenge for the playoffs you do need talent to match those teams. But to get those players to be confident they are gonna do well here as they would at Bama we have to coach up the players we already get to their potential. In any case we must get Bissianthe, if i spelt his name right, and Devon Jackson would be ideal as well. That guy is a beast too. Those are play off level talent. And while we are at it, if we are gonna go after small LBs we have to have big DTs who can occupy the guards or make plays themselves.

Offense might be the strength of the team this year. Has the makings of a potent O.

I'm with you. I don't know if he has the mentality to hit someone all like that but that size and speed at lb...bruh

Watch his hudl highlights. He has the mentality. I think he'd be a star. But he wants to play RB, and who is going to tell that kid no?

Can yall please stop saying corny shii like " can Thad play Linebacker"?

No, he can't. We want him at RB. Let him stay at RB. The joke ain't even funny
It's over used and played out.

Some of yall imbeciles would have put Derrick Henry at DE.

Now that you mentioned it...

It's great to hear about King and Van Dyke on their progress. I'm not a fan of scrambling QBs, as it increases the possibility of injury. Yet the offense seems to fit them well.

If the receivers stop the dropsies, it'll be a very nice season.
