Official 2021 DL Darrell Jackson - COMMITS

22 total tackles, 15 solo, but he only played in 8 games as a True Freshman.

His upside & ability absolutely does change this Defense IMO, especially if the rumors of us losing possibly 1 or 2 DL’s is true, he’s a big upgrade at DT for us & particularly in this defensive scheme he’s a perfect fit.
These are the stats of a 23 year old vet who played every game on our defense.

Crystal balls are just stupid now. Recruiting has changed so much they are meaningless. Time to come up with something else to grab the fans..
They’re solid when done way in advance. Andrew Ivins would often put in CB’s in the summer for a guy who’s committing in December. It was a good way to make an educated guess based on interviews and what not. Doing it a couple days before a decision is basically pointless in my opinion.

I agree the potential is there. His shear size will help eat up blocks from the other lineman and linebackers. However, I'm on the side of waiting before crowning him a 1st rounder. Number 57 Bunyun looked to be creating havoc on that same film DMoney posted. We desperately need another LB and WR as well. In addition, when are we going to start seeing these guys from our team enter the portal.

I didn’t say he was a 1st rounder, I have no projection on his potential draft status as of now, it’s way too early for that.

I just added to the idea that he’s a big addition to our Defense because his skill set, scheme fit & upside.

He played in rotation as a 2-Gap NT last year & had an impact, as a 1-Tech in our system he would get way more one on ones & would be a nightmare in Stunt rushes switching out going up against B/C gap blockers & taking on Tackles.

I think he would be way more productive in our Defense as a Front-4 lineman, rather than continuing to play Nose in a 3-man front.

Nice analysis. As always appreciate your knowledge and insight. Hopefully we're able to reel him in. My 1st round comment was more in regards to RSF's post.

Agreed here. This is one of those rare kids that has a unique skill set at his size. You can tell how strong he is by getting reps as a 2 gap nose at 6'6. He's not fat either. He's going to provide the power inside we haven't had since Norton. Hopefully he enrolls.

How does he compare to say a Jayson Jones who we were after and committed to Auburn? Does he have a higher ceiling or was Jones a better fit for us?

I said POTENTIAL first rounder, I didn’t crown anyone.

Kid is a physical freak of nature. It’s not that big of a leap to say if this kid takes coaching and works hard, he has the measurables at a premiere position that the NFL goes ape**** over

I gotcha. I misread the context of your last message. Kid has the measurables for sure. Hopefully, we'll have a chance to further debate the topic if he decides to join the good guys.

And you know, I wouldn't be surprised if that guy made an NFL practice squad. I know he wasn't a fan favorite but we could use Jonathan Ford right about now. Better fit in this defense than Mannys.

Jackson would be a huge addition

Exactly. And Ford would be 10x more valuable in a Steele defense. Jackson has already demonstrated he's a step up in a defense that requires much more out of the run stopper, and has plus downhill speed in a pass rush. He would deliver a statistically significant impact for our team.

I’ll stick my neck out even more and say between this kid and LT, we got TWO potential first rounders at DT.

Again it’s just potential, but if these kids put in the work, by the time they’re coached up juniors….holy **** at what could be.

All potential right now, but the path is there if everything goes right to have an elite d-line.
