I don't think any of us (or the coaching staff, for that matter) 100% trusts that the commit will stick until that year's NSD. However, you take the commitment when the kid gives it or you can **** sure guarantee that the kid will hold it against us going forward. You can also be sure that another program WILL take his commitment and then they'll use the fact that we initially denied him against us as we try to claw our way back in the kid's good graces.
In today's cut-throat recruiting environment you don't turn down any advantage when it's presented to you or you risk the chance of it turning into a disadvantage somewhere down the road..
