Gore still has a year...he'll be back to.

I dont think Acheampong has a chance of being outside he isnt twitchy enough and is already big. He has a future inside with development ...kid could get up to 285-290 as a rs freshman.

Not sure where we would lose JHH to..? Hes not an nfl guy and he looks a shoe in to start full time next szn. Now Taylor could go on a streak for the rest of the year, and may want to test the waters.

I think there's a chance the way JHH is playing this season he is an NFL guy.

I don't think all these guys will be staying for the covid 6th year jmo…I also don't think all of them will be welcome. I agree C.A. is a DT all the way.

Such a mistake for these fringe players to just give up that final year. Most of these kids aren’t getting drafted and at best are practice squad players given the competition in the NFL. If JHH has another year he should come back, unless he plans on transferring of course elsewhere.

I see your point…But I would argue that in MOST cases I'm not sure a 6th year helps them become any less fringe.

The only scenario where I would see JHH come back is if he assured he would start in 24 but with the Bama transfer and the JC and portal DTs we are and will be after that may not be likely.

Yes but you could keep playing the game you love, have a chance at being on a really good team and make some $$ as well thanks to NIL. Plus there is more chance of increasing your draft stock than having it go down although thats certainly not assured. Oh and graduate or work on your advanced degree.

Nothing is guaranteed but if your a fringe draft pic type, the smart decision is to return if you can. RB position might be the exception as they only have limited tread on those tires.

And again I just think the issue is room…Most of us see us bringing in 4-5 NEW DT (regardless of where from, portal/HS, includes Burroughs)…And I don't see us carrying 11 or 12 on the roster. So let's say 1 of Gore/Taylor/JHH stay (and obviously not all of those are created equal!!). Let's go with 4 (Russell, Jones, another portal or frosh)…

DT: SeniorStay/Burroughs/Moten/Horton/C.A./Campbell/New/New/New…That's 9

And then put in a range of numbers at other positions below…AND THIS WOULD ALREADY NEEDING SOME ATTRITION TO GET TO, especially at OL:

DE: 7 (maybe 1 more)
LB: 9 (maybe 1 less)
CB: 8
S: 6 (maybe 1 less)
Swing DB: 2 (Richards, Day types)
Specialist: 3
QB: 3 (maybe 1 more)
RB: 6 (maybe 1 less)
WR: 10 (if we bring in just the current 3 and bumping out Redding and Restrepo to NFL just to get to this number!)
TE: 5 (maybe 1 less)
OL: 15 (maybe 1 more)

That leaves room for two more players

And in all these threads everyone is talking about the possibilities of all these guys staying plus they talk about tons of portal help coming in…And consensus is from seemingly everyone we will bring in between 25 and 28 HS kids (Gabby and others seem to repeatedly quote 27)

Although I didn't break down the names at every position because I don't have time, the rundown above (not including the parentheses in/out) :

- No more DE help
- Includes 1 portal LB out
- If we assume 5 new OL faces (I would expect one portal or juco included in that number of 5)…and that only 2 of Rivers, Sap, Dennis, R-Rod, Washington, are on the team next year

Yet in every post I here that these players should/have to/stay or def will be back

Chaney
Parrish
X
The other 2 DT from the list
TVD
Kinchens
J Will

I just don't see it because I'm already baking in a ton of attrition…Not attacking you or any other poster. I'm just saying that's a lot for 2 spots…Sure there could be 4-5 spots, but again I'm already baking a lot of attrition in. Will be interesting. Just can't see all these kids everyone says "have another year" staying while we are continuing to stack chips.

This post just focused on numbers for the DT position…can do it everywhere

There isn't room to have

11 DT…but also (or even any?)

4 QB
6 TE
11 WR
8 DE
7 RB

This.

Gore will be back but we will lose Deen and Lichtenstein. I would 100% expect JHH to be back next year and about 50/50 with Leonard Taylor. Acheampong could be a very interesting piece for us inside. With his length, wingspan and good twitchiness for the interior, Collin could be a real matchup problem for opposing guards and centers. The challenge with Acheampong will be the usual one for taller interior DLs and that is playing with leverage as opposed to playing too high. Having said that, I cannot wait to see how Guidry uses him.
correct.

Acheampong and Campbell may be back as well. I could see Acheampong getting the reps Lich is logging this year next year to get his feet wet.

I think Guidry likes to have specialized guys for some of the sub packages. Acheampong would be a perfect end in a 3 man front. Kind of the position JHH Played against Clemson
100 PERCENT CORRECT.

JHH WAS F*CKIN SH*T UP TO.

i ALSO SEE HE PLAYS GORE EARLY IN GAMES AS WELL.

YALL THREW HIM OUT THE DOOR LAST YEAR AND.....HERE WE ARE.
HES BETTER THAN ANY OF THE PORTAL DTS WE BROUGHT IN.

He should come back for more tape and would be hard to get him out of that full time starter spot with his progression

Is he better than Burroughs and this Mich st transfer?

Have no clue at this conjecture.

I dont even know if we offered the msu guy....and he seemed to be coaxed into the portal any way s someone been back doored.

Barrow #8:

Real good sequence at the 220 min mark. He appears to be good at slanting and getting off. I think ghe could slot RIGHT into Branson Deens role.

Is Anthony Campbell a thing? I know he's a 5th year senior...is he able to redshirt? Asking for depth reasons.
He was very raw , they wanted to build his size up and coach him up some then I’d expect him to be a rotation guy next year. We’re getting so thin at de now that he might need to start getting some burn now.

Officially entered.

Florida State on it……………..

When he transferred, the articles I read said Campbell had 2 years of eligibility left. So I think he's coming back unless coaches elect not to renew his scholarship.

Thanks for the follow-up

There will be more in the portal. And we are likely to be a better destination than last season. Alot of the players people said were no one, have us with a top 10 rush defense and top 25 overall defense. What i want is elite CBs are minimum CBs with speed. That would take the defense to another level. I trust who they bring in on the DL.

I feel like they are playing him a bunch during the middle of the game.
