I know Washington is a beast of a TE but anybody else think he may have more upside at DE?

Alot of people do actually. Some schools are recruiting him as an Athlete

If you’ve seen him which clearly you haven’t he doesn’t have the body type to gain all that weight.

If Wisconsin can turn a 6'5 215 HS QB into a 6'5 300 Pound 1st Rd OT, we can do it too

I would tell him he can play whatever position he wants I just see that frame and it screams DE.

If he don’t have that dawg in him to play D then nah. Not everybody built mentality for that. Physically tho yeah. He might actually grow into a specimen left tackle

The guy can obviously play many positions but he’s one of the highest rated kids in the country. He’s gonna tell the school what he’s gonna play there and not the other way around. Same situation as Arik Gilbert

I don't see this guy having a lower body that will properly translate to getting up to 300+ pounds and asking him to sit in a passblocking stance and hold up anchoring a DEs passrush.

TE or DL for sure

David Hill, an assistant at Desert Pines who has accompanied the 6-foot-8, 250-pound Washington on his travels, tells 247Sports that a couple officials have been set.

"We're taking all officials during the season, all games," Hill said. "Alabama, Georgia, Miami are the three that we know for sure. Right now we are figuring out the other two between Tennessee, Florida and Auburn, and possibly some others depending on the other places he gets to see coming up.

"Georgia will be for the Notre Dame game. Alabama will be for the LSU game. Miami we don't know the date yet but we know it will be one of the five officials. Auburn is close as well, they have thrown out the possibility of getting back there for the Iron Bowl."

I would contact both TE's. Mammarelli was recruited by Todd Hartley so we got to reestablish that relationship. And who knows if Brevin Jordan leaves early, or Mammarelli flips we might need Darnell Washington. It just helps to have a relationship earlier than later...just in case. But I get it if you dont want to insult Mammarelli by making him COMPETE

It's not one or the other. You take both!!!
