A bunch if the things listed about Tate are cool if hes actually good.

Perry seems to be the most talented. I am not burying him for immaturity and playing in a 1980s offense.

Not rooting for anyone but people counting guys out cause of last year us silly imo.

Of course you can use last year as part of the equation. Especially when off the field issues were a big part of the problem.

No one is burying him. But ignorance is bliss can be equally silly.

I was not saying you were burying him. I am saying to do so off last season is silly. Not that you cant incorporate last season. I wasnt implying you were burying.

Martell also left when a new guy came in to his school. Perry and Williams stayed and in particular Perry didnt even have rumors of leaving.

I dont care who anyone is dating. I dont care about swag. I really dont care about Tate's mop up time or Perry's last year. Because going off last season our best offensive player wouldnt be here. It's about what they are doing now.

The article listed everyone and was more than fair although Miami's Baker Mayfield comment was silly. Martell was a HS megastar. Baker was a walk-on

Beason says if it was up to him today he would go with Perry. Noted Perry seems to be the most poised. Good little interview right there and breakdown his thoughts on each qb as well

Thanks for posting and crickets is all here from those with an obvious "Tate" agenda.

Just goes to show even the ex-Cane football players, who know a lot more than just about anyone here, have a wide range of opinions on who should be starting at QB....and they all have valid reasons. Whoever of the three that starts will be because that's who the coaches feel the most confidence in running our offense..and that's just fine by me. If that person proves incapable, then there are more waiting behind him to take that spot.

With all the talk about last season's organizational chaos...

Perry didn't play well because of Richt this, that, blah

Williams didn't play well because of Richt this, that, blah

"I will prepare, and one day my chance will come."
- Abraham Lincoln

The QB room would do well to heed those words.

To be fair we havent seen Williams play

Obviously Perry could have done things better. But my criticism is more the offensive system and an inept QB coach on hindering the QB play.

Will support whoever gets the job. Think Tate would be my guy, feel like he's got the "it" factor and the talent to back it up, but obviously I don't get to see the three on a day to day basis blet the best man win.

One side thought, Tate is sort of handcuffed here. If he doesn't win the job outright he'll still be here at the end of the year (well, more likely to be than the other 2). I wonder if that will subconsciously work its way into the decision. Key word there being subconsciously. You can go with one of the other two out of the gate and sort of keep them on the line, but if you go Martell from the jump you risk losing Perry and Jarren before week 1. I doubt the coaches are thinking like that, but might be one of those back of mind facts that pushes them to lean away from him if it's a close call.

I definitely learned [from last season] and I understand that it wasn’t acceptable for me and especially for my teammates

He just doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling...I'm not a confident in him as I was a year ago this time.

Nope. I'm all for 2nd chances but it was widely reported that neither Williams nor Perry spent any time in the film room until they saw Martell doing it. Diaz witnessed Perry being a knucklehead for 2 years. That's not something he is going to forget. The QB position is more than just a guy who makes all the throws. If that was the case, Jeff George would be in the HOF (fun fact, he was going to transfer to Miami in 1987 from Purdue but backed out because JJ wouldnt guarantee a starting spot). Diaz is going to look at leadership as well, and unfortunately for Perry, the new HC is very familiar with his past attitude and history. No such thing as a clean slate, Perry has an uphill battle.

For a guy that tries so hard to act smart, I’d think you would do better than to invoke Abraham Lincoln as an example of past performance determining future results.

Lincoln had his share of setbacks and failures before becoming president.

Kosi persevering and starting and winning would be a very Abraham Lincoln story.

Thankfully, we finally have a coach who will likely put the best player in the best opportunity to succeed (whomever the starter ends up being).
