2019 DL Jason Blissett

NJ is a hub of good football talent. It has great baseball players and basketball players too.

Is this dude coming to work out for JS or what.
As Solomon told Rosemy: STOP PLAYIN!!!

Poly Prep is a solid program in Brooklyn.

Sadly over the years the school started to really put a focus on Academics instead of athletics and stopped recruiting the best of the best in NYC.

Off topic, but maybe you're the guy to ask- Why is high school football pretty much trash in NYC in comparison to even other much smaller cold weather cities? It can't just be a lack of space issue.

Lack of Space is a Big issue
Lack of Youth Development. There really isnt any true Pop Warner or Youth Football leagues. Most kids dont start playing football until they get to HS.
It's still a Basketball Centric city
Most kids are kids of Immigrants who dont know a thing about the sport also.

Not sure if you been to south florida b4.

But i agree i think because their youth leagues are sh*t or non existent.

Down here we have kids begging to play football at 5 yrs old.

I know Florida has a ton of kids of immigrants but football in engrained in the culture there unlike NY. In NYC its basketball and Track and Field.

Also there is a ton of talent and speed. We just aren't technically sound or have the passion like kids down south who been playing since 4 or 5.

Also down south, kids view the sport as a way out while in NYC just view it as something to stay in shape for before basketball or winter track season.

The passion for football just isn't that great in NY.

And in the suburbs of NYC - Long Island or Westchester -where most of the population of the state is- lacrosse is king. 12 months a year. Football is just a sport some laxers play in fall. Lacrosse is the sport that gets kids to college or gets them into colleges their academics can't. Very few kids ONLY play football. Long Island doesn't even participate in the NYS tournament.

And all the press about CTE, head trauma, etc. had a big affect on participation in many school districts on Long Island. Some schools had to drop their JV teams.

Exactly, the white boys I played football with only played because they needed to get shape for wrestling or Lacrosse. And alot of them went to Duke, Notre Dame or the Ivy Leagues for Lacrosse. One wrestled at Iowa and another wrestled st Nebraska

Then I had homies who played ball but ended up running track at Binghamton, Delaware, South Carolina, and Temple.

Now there is some football factory schools but alot of them are predominantly in the hood and alot of those players choose the streets before Academics.

Also 90% of the schools dont play on Friday nights. Its Saturday afternoons.

NY as a whole is just backwards when it comes to football. They dont start camp until late August, NYC and Long Island dont even participate in the State playoffs.

I was going to respond to the "NJ dont produce sh*t " post but it seems like everyone else is having a slow day too lol.

I'm surprised more schools, especially Michigan/OSU/MSU arent after him. He looks big and athletic

Wow, I can’t believe we’re the only Top P5 program in the running. He came down to Paradise and held his own, is coachable and had the right physical attributes. What’s not to like?
