2019 DL George Karlaftis

Played some TE too. If he can gain 40 to 50lbs., could become another McIntosh.

Nice read. The article said his father played at the U in the early 90's and has since passed away. Do you guys remember him?

I do, as soon as I saw the thread I did a double take, but then again, I was a tutor for the Athletic Department. So I remember all those guys who never played much, like Dwayne Johnson.

Does anyone remember J Ina? That was, literally, his name. J. When I went to grad school, he was in a class where I was the T.A., and I used to laugh when I saw his name on the scantron list of students. It just looked like the computer printout was wrong.

What a cool name. I googled him and found a team issue card and the roster listing with his name on it.

I really like the size of this kid.. I would like to see him come down for one of the upcoming camps and go through some drills and see how he does against a few of our top targets (like Campbell, Lucas and ect.)!! And this kid could be a Hybrid DE/DT.. If he's a quick light footed type of player, I say put him on the edge BUT if he's quick and a mauler then he's a DT.. The staff would need to see him before offering..

Really hope we offer and lock this guy up. He's huge and athletic and has the frame to get to legit DT size. Will depends how he develops, but I'm equally intrigued by this prospect as either a DE or DT, and think he can legitimately work out at either. I know his competition is suspect, but he looks like another Bosa brother.

Here he is at the Army combine going up against top prospects from 2018 and 2019:

I actually remember Dwayne Johnson as a rotational guy.

Come on, I was just joking a bit.

But, yeah, I remember that under Drunken Denny, we simply didn't recruit as many great TEs as we did under JJ. Some did shine regardless, but we moved Sapp over to DT and whatnot, so TE kinda got de-emphasized for a few years. That "5 WR" formation just didn't bother with the TE as much, and we probably asked George to come over because we just didn't have the same manpower at TE that we once had (and have had since).

Karlaftis embarrassed the competition at that camp. And, holy ****, Delone Scaife is a vile dude. He plays with a chip on his shoulder.

The Kid is Going to Paradise Camp, need to shou love, Bama offered and ND wants him bad, we can let this kid goes to our rivals.

JBertrand Ina actually started for us at OT in the '90's. He was a kid from Louisiana, recruited I believe by Dennis Erickson. He was not a guy who didn't play much. He played quite a bit, I think. We were not that good during his years. And as I remember, his first name was "JBertrand".

Looks like he's coming on a visit soon...can't find much about his dad...other than he walked on to Miami as a Tight End.

He was a walk-on who probably never played. We always had some. We had guys on scholarship who never played. The only walk-on who played a lot during that era, at least as far as I remember, was Albert Bentley. We might have had another walk-on or two who earned a scholarship and ended up playing a lot, but not Karlaftis. I'm pretty sure of that, but I might be wrong. He also has family connections to Notre Dame. Plus the kid lives in Indiana.

This was his father. He was an engineering professor at National Technical University in Athens, Greece:

The first guy, Kardell Thomas is impressive. I guess he's locked up to LSU. I found a video of him running the anchor of the 4X100 for his HS:

How's his competition?

He plays in Indiana, so would guess it is suspect at best. Which is why travelling to camps and especially hitting a Miami camp will be very beneficial for him.

Go Canes

Plays in class 3A (out of 6) and not in a major city so his competition is weak. Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne both have a lot of very good teams but the rest of the state is pretty poor. He looks dominant though and athletic, looking forward to seeing how he does at camp
