2019 CB Marcus Banks hits portal

SIze and testing numbers are relatively close.

Clarke will be a good player - hard to make an assessment of his first real playing time while being coached by a guy that's not ready to be a position coach at this level - love DVD but his tutelage led a few guys to regress and wasted a year for some others. We didn't see anyone make a jump.
And see I always thinking DVD was CB coach in title and salary only as a means to keep him for recruiting purposes and from leaving with Banda....I thought TRob was coaching both groups CB/S

He got near autonomy with CBs. He was definitely only retained to recruit, though. Did a lot of learning on the job

What I find curious about DVD is that we hear all the time how great of a crooter he is although lately we've been hearing how lots of kids on the roster don't like him. Where's the disconnect?

I am unaware of kids on the roster that don't like him. I'm more concerned about how he's known as a recruiter and we had 0 commits from Dade, Broward, Palm Beach until Bissainthe. Whole staff dropped the ball this class.

Good gracious some of the worst camera work I've seen on a Hudl highlight. Dude has PI written all over him - I hope I'm wrong.
I saw the same thing. He's Not to be mentioned in the same sentence as TS ever again.

Kid doesn't turn and look for the ball and quarterbacks WERE NOT afraid to target him on deep throws...that could be telling.

However, we need kids that can be serviceable at CB and he's definitely got some tools to work with as far as his speed, physicality, and athleticism...

The thing is, Mario’s way seems to only produce elite recruiting results.

If you’re him, why would you “adjust/grow” when everything you do seems to land on the trail?
Would you say Mario's results were better with or without Donte?

No matter how well you do anything, the moment you stop growing is the moment you begin to get left behind. Biggest case study of this is Saban "adjusting" to the spread offense when the rest of college football made the adjustment.

Per bama fan, solid player just couldn't crack the starting lineup with talent in front of him.

Like the comparison to Clarke except further along due to better coaching @ Bama

Better than Clarke IMO. Better comp would be Jaylon Johnson (from Utah who plays for the Bears) without the experience. I think he can easily develop into a 3rd pick in a couple of years.

I think the bigger question is why Bama doesn't have moar attrition via the Portal. I mean there are some obvious reasons but I'd never besmirch such a by-the-book progrum.
Because at Bama you can play one year and get to the NFL. Less damage to your body, etc etc. If you get a shot to start, even in your last year if all you are concerned about is the NFL would be easy to just wait your turn.
