2017 QB recruting

Well, N'kosi Perry is getting a lot of attention lately, and given the offense that we will be running, Im thinking someone will convince him that the spread is best for him and he will flip. That being said, do we have a viable option as a recruit to replace him? Im thinking we go after Jake Bentley from Alabama or Chase Brice out of Georgia. We have always had success with out of state QBs....

Didnt we have another 4 star '17 QB that decomitted ? Centeio or something like that ? I wonder if we continue to go after him
 
N'Kosi Perry has been getting a lot of attention from the younger Richt. And with word out that Richt wants to bring back the FSU "fast break" offense he used to run, don't be so sure he will flip.

Lets hope he sticks, but I wouldn't mind going after another QB in the '17 class as well

I'm from South Carolina & my nephew played with Jake Bentley & his older brother Shuler (who now starts QB for Old Dominion. They played at Byrnes HS in Duncan Sc b4 there dad got the job at Auburn. Now their dad Bobby is on Muschamp ' staff @ South Carolina. Do I'm pretty sure South Carolina will land him or at least lead for him now.
I'm no insider or nothing like that. I'm just assuming. So please don't come at me talking about sauces & all dat. I don't have sources & I'm no insider, that's just my opinion.

Perry is as solid as a rock to the "U"

We need a true dual threat QB on the roster if only just for practice purposes for the defense.
 
2019, barring any transfers, we expect to have Jack Allison as a RS JR, Evan Shirreffs as a RS SR, and a RS SO for who ever our 2017 QB is....
That spells transfer for the 2017 QB because he's going to have to work his tail off just to play 1 year and be asked to transfer so that the 2018 QB doesn't have to do the same. It's bad for the team to go through a different QB every year. At some point we have to have that Freshman or RS Freshman come in and start so that receiver recruits know it's a dependable QB returning. This means that if the 2017 QB is not good enough to beat out Allison, he will most likely end up a depth QB regardless.

I would rather get another Evan Shirrefs type player to fill the 2017 slot, someone who wants and values the education, will work hard and possibly compete for a shot at the starting role when needed. But someone we can depend on to fill the depth chart and not transfer out.
I feel like if we stick with N'Kosi, he will think he is too good to sit and wait his turn, and will end up transferring and leave us needing to grab 2 QB's in one cycle.

If we can bring in someone who has the same attitude that Jack Allison displayed in his tweet saying "he ain't scared of competition" then bring him on. I don't think N'Kosi is going to be scared to compete with Allison, but I don't trust he will stay with the program if he isn't in line to start by his 3rd year here.

You are assuming Jack A. will be starter quality ,will stay injury free, never get in trouble .....coaches hope for the best but plan for the worst. You never pass up the chance to land a good QB.
 
Programs that want to contend for championships don't go out of their way to pursue less talented players who can occupy spots for 4-5 years because they're afraid of possible transfers, especially at the most vital position in the sport.

It's astonishing to see that suggested by anyone roughly one year after Ohio State won a championship in large part because they accumulated tremendous QB depth. They would've gotten trounced long before they reached the inaugural CFB Playoff if they had settled for lesser talent on the trail out of fear of transfers.

That wasn't QB depth or talent, that was the system working to perfection because of Tom Herman. Perfect example is how Greg Ward Jr went from 2000 passing yards and 500 rushing yards to 2,800 passing yards and double the rushing yards. TD/INT ratio went from 12/7 to 17/6 and suddenly he is expected to be talked about in the Heisman race. While on the other end of the equation, Ohio State's offense was stale for the first half of the year, and about 3-4 games in the second half of the season.
Richt system on the other hand hasn't had a 100% success rate with any QB that plays in his offense. He DOES need a QB he can groom in order to be successful. Though I am basing this off his last 8 or so years at UGA where he hasn't called plays so maybe that isn't accurate.

I'm generally saying we need to at best avoid having to recruit more than 1 QB in the future.

Miami pulled his offer. I don't think he is good enough for Miami. Agree with others he is Plan B type kid.

Lol OP you always are convinced about something.. Lmao you a stock broker or a day trader.. Maybe a hedge fund manager.
 
Not sure how with lack of knowledge or information why one would be convinced a commit will flip? I'm about 99.7% sure he is not the only QB they'll be recruiting because there is always a "possibility" that any recruit will change his mind. To be convinced he'll flip simply because you believe it'll be a team that runs the spread is like saying he'll flip because spread set X passes 10% more than spread set Y. All teams run variations of the spread.
 
Perry has some dual threat ability, but when you watch film on him, he's always looking to throw the ball. Most dual threat QB's, once they get running abandon the pass. I'm not saying he's Deshaun Watson, but they have a similar style of play in that regard.

The other thing I LOVE about Perry is his deep ball. I likened it to Danny Wuerffel's in that it has a beautiful trajectory and just falls into the WR's hands almost like a feather. He throws a very catchable ball long and also has the arm strength to make any throw.

He's going to make some school happy on signing day and I'd be thrilled if it was us. If we land him, it would be the happiest I've been with the position in at least a decade.
