2017 LB Jamal Riggins - Sebastian River

Geo, who do you think are the Top 3 or 4 LB targets for this staff? And if we're only taking 2 or 3 LBs in this class, who would you go after the most?

He doesn't seem like a real big hitter (a la Perryman) but he looks to be absolutely unblockable and he seems to diagnose plays extremely well. Plays fast too.

For me I would say:

1. Wilder
2. Steed

if they take three..

3. 1 of F'agan, Miller, Houston, Riggins, Marchiol

Staff is not sure what position they see F'agan at. Only thing holding back from an offer. He would have committed already. I think he's a SS right now, just all depends how he puts weight on. If the weight comes easy he gives you an option at OLB. If they offer him Saturday he's going to commit.

Kearney is still in the picture actually, he's a target for them. He just opened things up.

I doubt we will only take two despite what was said. We need quality and Gayot health is still in concern(they are not sure if he will be medically cleared to play again). McCray, Smith(maybe salvaged as a DE with Kool here), King and Gordinier are questionable for Miami LB talent IMO.

Perry has only shown worth on ST's so far even though I like his potential. Grace is graduating, then you have Young and Owens and then you have the Big 3 who came in(Shaq, Zach, Mike)

Would realistically have 6 returning, with 4 questionables and 1 health concern....

Main point is. We need LBs. Ideal would be more like 3 to 4 this year tbh.

I said in another thread, would be shocked at only 2 with the need and class size and available talent that wants in.

Also as for Marchiol. Aside from impressive stats. I'm more worried about the competition he played against. I'm not sold on him.

I think we take 3-4. F'agan is a SS right now IMO so I would take him out of LB discussion personally.

Think we add Miller, and possibly Houston. If Kearney is interested in coming back I would take him but that remains to be seen.

We have linebackers but I don't think all are quality. The quality needs to be fixed there.

Jesus, how bad was golden and d'nofrio and the defense they ran? They wanted 6'4 240 lb linebackers from jersey and pa. Horrible.

Wilder, steed, Marchiol, and riggins. Get f-agan and play him a SS, would be a ferocious box safety

You're saying you like Miller next in line or that you feel good about our chances there?

Wilder Steed Miller and Houston are my guys. End up with 3-4 of those and it's all good

Whoops I was speaking in the sense of already having Wilder.

To compound the matter, they took slow LBs and had them play in a slow to react defense.

/monkey serious

I still like Wilder, Miller, Marchiol and F'agan. F'agan will add weight 225 easy and maintain his remarkable speed and instincts. I know this may mean more than anything- Bama offered the kid! This Riggins kid is intriguing if his measurable are true 6'3" 220 4.43. Even if it's 4.5 that's something to be considered. Jarez Parks a keeper for show!

Those are my guys too. If Kearney has interest in coming back(they have interest in him), then I would throw him in the mix as I said but that remains to be seen.

This kids film was sent my way last night. I was told he might be coming down to Junior Day with 5* DE Jarez Parks from Sebastian River. Miami has extended an offer to him as well.

6'3" 210

Junior Year Highlights - Jamal Riggins highlights - Hudl

Really like the range he plays with.

Good looking kid....saw his film some weeks back on TOS

Jamal Riggins - Hudl

(2017).....Jamal Riggins......MLB......6-3/210......has run the 200m...23.28......should be OLB with his height and speed...posted o him a time ago he was smaller.

You know, the more I think about Riggins, the more I like him. He's tall. He's fast. In today's CFB w/ frequent use of spread offenses, we'll frequently be in a 4-2-5 defense. Riggins' height & speed could play well as a hybrid LB/S.

In our division, we will only play NASCAR heavily against 2 teams. UNC and VT with Fuente at the helm. Did BYU run spread? If so than against virginia too.

Edit: Also against Clemson if we play them again.

True, but even against "pro-set" teams when they go to 3 & 4 WR sets, someone like Riggins, with his size/speed could be a real nice asset against those formations.
