2017 DB Henderson commits to Miami

#SPEED #SPEED #SPEED Chris (CJ) Henderson is the second Miami commit from Columbus along with 2018 DB Josh Jobe. Lookout for DE Guy Thomas, brother of FSU LB Matthew Thomas. He will be visiting Miami next week along with Henderson for Miami's Junior day. CB Trajan Bandy is dying to get the offer from Miami, He has over 32 D1 offers and he is the best player on the Columbus roster.

If he's dying for an offer... Why wouldn't he come to the junior day, ball out and show them why he deserves one?? Instead of going to Auburn that weekend?

I keep hearing about Bandy and I'm wondering why we wouldn't offer a kid that good in our area. Then I see this and it says a lot. If kids are going to choose other camps and visits over us going forward, we should be prioritizing our time and offers with that in mind. That said, I hope that the kid gets an offer... and appreciates it the way the U deserves.

I wouldn't offer either, looks like his priorities are not with Miami right now. If he changes his tune I'm sure the staff would do the same, we don't need people decommitting like we have in past years. We need to get the best players committed who want to be here. No more games.

my guess that Thomas hates FSU. Don't think is brother likes it either

Miami is the favorite for Guy actually.

Is bandy the equivalent to the Trayone Gray hype or is he actually a player?

This is the type of speed we need. Big time pickup. Have to show Rumph love for this one. Welcome to the U!

He was originally going to come to junior day and commit but he won't be able to come next weekend so he went and pulled the trigger today instead.

Wtf this even mean?
Bandy is talked about daily, but he doesn't even have an offer. Gray is talked about everyday and he's been on the field 30 times in 2 seasons. Is bandy a legit player or is he another gray type hype.

Terrible comparison. Choc is talented, but was not recruited hard by other elite programs. He's also a kid that was recruited as an athlete, where he was being projected as a contributor at a position that he never played. Also, the only people hyping him up was this board and people from SFL. He wasn't receiving the same type of attention that has been give to Bandy on a national level. I'm not downplaying Choc's ability at all, but they're not close to comparable.

Bandy is a kid with offers from legit programs like: Bama, Clemson,Michigan, USCw, LSU, Auburn, and Oklahoma. He was the best player on a columbus team with a bunch of high-level BCS prospect. When's the last time that Bama offered a 5'9" corner? They didn't even offer hoggins, who had like 15 ints in 8A and was the most productive player on a team with SBB and Ridley.

Those that doubt this kid need to see him play in person. Against Flanagan, he was the only corner that didn't get beat and was the most impressive corner in the game. You can make a case for stanford samuels jr., but look at his pass rush and look at who he was covering. Flanagan had 4 D1 WRs and Bandy didn't get beat once. Jobe (2018 commit) was moved to safety from corner, because of a possible career ending injury to Marlon Brooks (another D1 corner). Jobe was beat all night against Flangan.

Bandy's put up big games against: Monarch (when Ridley was eligible), Apopka, Southridge (3 BCS WRs, and out jumped 1 for the game winning int), Winter Haven, 2X against Flanagan (4 D1 WRs), South Dade, Highlands (Ky.), Coral Gables, NorthWestern, and few other decent teams.

Kids on the team will tell you the same thing. He wasn't just the best DB in defensive backfield full of BCS kids, he was the best player.

Oh, and Guy Thomas didn't even start. Not crazy about him committing to UM. Lots of potential, but it's concerning when a kid like Uche who transferred in from Palmetto, was just as raw and was able to be more productive at an earlier stage. Columbus has a very good Dline coach, who's legit developed a bunch of prospects to D1 schools.

Cornerback Christopher Henderson (Miami/Columbus) committed to Miami, as first-reported by 247Sports.com.

"It felt like home," Henderson said. "They have great people there. (Hurricanes cornerbacks) coach Mike Rumph is a great coach and he did the same thing we are going to do already."

Henderson, an explosive athlete, will play on the island for the Canes.

"They are getting a shutdown cornerback," Henderson said.

Henderson unofficially visited Miami this afternoon and told the staff he wanted in.

"They were all very excited," Henderson said. "I committed as a cornerback and they were very surprised to hear from me. They all came into the office so that was pretty cool. They said they're excited to have me and I'll have a chance to play my freshman year. We even talked about me wearing number five just like I do now for Columbus."

Henderson chose the Hurricanes over 16 other offers including Alabama and USC. He discussed why he felt like the time was right to commit to UM.

"I felt comfortable with the coaches and this seemed like home," Henderson said. "I had been thinking about Miami ever since last summer. I wanted to know how much I might get recruited so I decided to hold off at the time. I got a lot of other offers but I didn't need to consider them. It's time to bring the old 'U' back."

Henderson, who runs a 4.4-second 40-yard dash, is one of the top recruits in south Florida in the 2017 class.

Look for his stock to explode in the coming weeks and months.

Henderson is the 10th verbal commit in the 2017 class for Miami. Cornerback is a big position of need for UM in the 2017 class. Henderson joins Nick Roberts as the cornerbacks committed in 2017.

:U5PyXda:

per scout.
"I chose Miami because it's right at home and I feel like I'll fit right in," Henderson said. "Nothing is better than dominating in your own city."
