2016 MLB Draft Thread

Family loves the team and raves about how Morris' staff teaches baseball. That is a fact. Ask them.

On the basis of logic, Heyward should have stayed. His brother earns over $20 million per year and could pick up the tuition. Heyward will probably not make MLB so an education should be a higher priority. He probably wanted to focus 100% on baseball.

Any news on Ruiz?

With Welker, Curbelo, and Montgomery going pro, he's the one guy we really need to return in order to have a halfway decent middle infield next year

but yes I did find this article from a few days ago

"The team has signed 32 of their 41 picks, most recently two pitchers -- 16th-rounder Willie Rios (Florida Southwestern State) for a bonus of $107,300 and 22nd-round pick Nick Gruener (Harvard) at $95,000. Both were beneficiaries of above slot bonuses as the Orioles used leftover money from unsigned picks to add to their bonuses."



crap, It seems like EVERY SINGLE DRAFTED high school or JUCO player that has signed with Miami, gets ABOVE slot money.

It's crazy.

I remember when Dexter Fowler signed with us and was drafted by the Rockies. An article on their website announced that they had traded Larry Walker. One of the reasons? To free up money to sign one of their talented draft picks named Dexter Fowler.

It's been going on for a long time.

I'm amused by it.
