2016 Miami Commit “Keeping Options Open”

They should just name it something else like "leader" or something. So many of these kids commit to a school without visiting other schools. Then when other schools go after them hard they visit and realize they want to see all the schools. School they are "committed" to usually says no so they decommit and end up elsewhere.

Didn't mean to come off that negative, just think it is hilarious a kid everyone has pegged as the next Duke is giving interviews like that.

If I committed to a school that early I would have to be 100%. Also would give interviews about who I am recruiting, not what schools I am talking to/visiting in future.

I understand the frustration around here but some of you guys need to step off the ledge.

A kid shutting down his recruitment as a Sophomore happens maybe 1 in a million times. Kid probably wants to get out and see a few areas outside SFla.

Relax.

How original. A local UM "commit" keeping his options open. Get a new schtick, Mr. Walton. This one's played out. Be the "I'm fully committed" guy.

This is why I have been saying for years that worrying about kids that are Juniors and Sophomores is a waste of time in recruiting. Almost nothing these kids do or say will mean jack once recruiting heats up for them.
 
What people dont realize, is that many of these kids dont know much about other programs. Some many have early offers from other schools, but many have never been to camps at those schools or given anything a lot of thought. They get that UM offer, and its the "Home team", so they commit, as a PLACE HOLDER. They know they have that offer and spot in the bag if they want it, while they go explore other options.

Its like they are trying to line up their Senior prom date early and the ask the girl next door if she's willing to go, when she says yes, they say "cool", then as the prom gets closer, and other girls seem like they are interested, they start flirting with them and looking to dump the girl next door for whatever chick happens to be the popular girl in school at the time.

This is why none of these early commitments mean jack sh*t.

I don't see a "keeping my options open" quote anywhere in that story. I see a "taking my time with the situation", and "other schools are looking at me". Anyway, long way to go.
 
when he was interviewed a while back he said he loved UM and always wanted to go there thats why he committed as soon as they offered. he said he Parents wanted him too see what else there was out there before committing. so i just think its his parents wanting whats best for him and they probably told him not to rush and to make sure he is 100% with his commitment.
