Golden took the 2011 team to 6-6 with a senior laden team. All of those Seniors left along with the best of the Juniors and Golden still increased the record this season because of solid coaching. Now when nobody leaves you think the team will only win one more game in 2013? Come on....

From schedule alone, we will win more than 2 more games from last year. However, don't expect much more with our defense. Plus, let's be honest, most of us have been so burned with this program's negativity, that we don't want to set ourselves up for being letdown.

Dude seriously, national championship next year? Alabama and Notre Dame have the #1 and #6 defenses, respectively. What did we finish at, 116th? And I'm supposed to think we're making a title run in 2013 cause of the names listed above?

If our defense is any better than 70th in the nation I will be amazed. I will be amazed if we end up ranked 70th, actually, more likely we will be somewhere around 80th. How much can you realistically expect a defense to improve in one year?
 
great op, a few tried raising valid points about the d....shuffling continues one more year...just long term view al is calling for...next year starts on dl...porter and luther with pierre and tank changes significantly if pieree and tank are the cornerstones....as for 2013, 2014 duke vs the world

I'm not sold on a first year quarterback leading us to the promised land. With the right finish to our defensive line recruiting this cycle I'm expecting AT LEAST 10 wins in 2013 with the possibility of running the table.

The ACC sucks. There's no team that has more talent than us. FSU will have an equal amount of talent, but they'll be breaking in a first year starter. VT will be better than they were this season, but I think we can handle them again. UNC will have a good team also, but not more talent than us. We held them to 18 points with this pathetic defense this season. The problem is, all these games will be away next season. That'll make the schedule more difficult, but I have confidence in Golden.

The toughest game IMO will Florida. Top 5 team this season and should be better next year. It all depends on who they lose on defense (apparently Elam and Floyd will declare). Their offense wasn't explosive but they were physical and man-handled FSU's defense. We'll need to get stronger in the trenches if we want to beat them next season.

Our defensive improvement and overall team improvdment starts with our defensive line play. Guys like Porter, Pierre, The Luther, Moore, McCord, Chick etc. need to get stronger and better in the offseason for our team to take the next step, but I've seen results in Golden's short time here and I'm confident they'll improve.

Have you COMPLETELY written off Preston Dewey? He was a stud in high school (even though I hear he's chasing baseball money) and Golden has recently said Gray Crow is really fitting into the offense in practice.
