Will there be a real competition? Do Kayaa and Olsen get a real look?

Golden's conservative history would indicate that Ryan Williams is the starter. Even if Williams starts, will Golden make it a point to get the leading underclassmen on the field in 2014?

Just to name a few, B Kelly, Sumlin, Stoops, Gundy, Fisher, Meyer, O'Brien, C Kelly, have all turned to freshman QB's in the past few years to great success.

We will all agree this team is not winning a national championship in 2014. No disrespect to Williams who I am sure is a great kid.

But why not go with one of Kayaa or Olsen? Get them a year under their belts so that our 2015 team can really make some noise.

It seems Al just gives the job to the upperclassmen but calls it a " competition ".

I think Williams will be the starter but we'll probably see a good amount of Olsen this year the same way we saw Williams in like the USF and Savannah State games... I honestly hope they redshirt Kaaya because I want 4 full years of him.

Williams starts but I wouldn't be surprised if Kaaya or Olsen are starting the last third of the season.

I believe we will see Kaaya a lot sooner than many others think

i hope not.. we need to get to a point where we're redshirting some studs on a yearly basis. If we see Kaaya this year, then that means Baby Jesus is not who we thought he was.

Williams is going to have the leg up, just because he has more experience. And lets be honest, if we do put one of these freshmen in the game. How many of you will be calling for Al's head when we lose a few more games due to freshman growing pains. What I rather do, is have Williams take care of the game for us and make it a point to let the no. 2 get a series or 2 in games. Famu and Arky state, whole halves.

I do hope that K. Olsen has just been working his tail off. If somebody can unseat Williams, I want them to be beasting this offseason! []_[]

Williams will get first crack. Will probably look bad in Nebraska, then things get interesting. Golden will talk about support for williams, if things continue to go downhill, Williams will get thrown under bus, move to freshman qb where all blame will be placed on this move as a growth year and Dorito will again get to stay on staff because of the offense. Wash, rinse, repeat

i don't think Williams will necessarily look bad vs. Nebraska. He may not win us the game but he won't be the reason we lose IMO...either way Williams gives us the best shot out of the QB's we have.

I believe Nebraska will be breaking in a QB as well so it should be interesting.

I don't care who wins it as long as he establishes himself and the team views him as their leader. We've been missing true leadership from the QB position this I would say Dorsey.

Im confident that it will be a two man competition between Olsen and Williams. I think anything close to a tie would go to Williams, and rightfully so IMO.

Remember, Olsen and Kaaya haven't play anything beyond high school ball. Williams had nine starts as a true freshman at Memphis and has a few more appearances while at UM. He's seen a lot more higher level football than the other two. He's also been in this offensive system for four years now. (note that Coley chose to use Fisch's system so Morris wouldn't have to learn a new system).

Hype aside, its going to be very hard to unseat Ryan Williams before the start of the season. And again, rightfully so. Do you really want a RS freshman who has been far from a world beater on the scout team last year making their first start on the road at Louisville then going at Nebraska two weeks later? That's the kind of schedule that favors the senior QB. If he struggles in one or both of those games perhaps we'll see someone else. Personally, I hope Williams opens up 3-0.

100% it's going to be Wi11iams...and I'm ok with that (for now). You give Kaaya a year to redshirt and Olsen gets another year to get his **** together and he'll be the first one in on "mop up" duty.

I would like to see Williams get a shot. I will be looking to see who can identify what the defense is bringing and audible on the fly. If we go back to the whole "set - look to the sidelines for the adjustment - then set again" (not sure the correcrt terminaology for it), we are in trouble. Shows the coaches have no faith. Take the leash off and let the boys play ball.
