2014 Schedule is not hard based on various preseason polls

Right - I expect Petrino to be formidable in a few years just not NEXT year - the cards lose too much talent with too much transition

Louisville will be much better than UNC next year. These preseason rankings are a joke.

and you say this because? they lose their entire coaching staff, lose the best QB in the nation, lose their best defender and bring in the worst recruiting class in the ACC this year…. yeah, they're really "trending upwards"

A decent class was salvaged. Give Petrino a year or two with these guys and you might be surprised.

But yeah, Canes schedule doesn't appear to be horrendous. Alert me when the day comes that UF schedules a Nebraska type road game though.

UF tough OOC road game is
FSU. They play Alabama, LSU, S. Carolina, Georgia, FSU and Missouri. That's 5 top-11 teams plus the #17 based on the linked poll...Nebraska isn't ****e compared to who they're playing.

I don't buy the SEC hype. I believe the SEC is the best conference currently. But, they are nowhere near the super conference many hypesters (read ESPN) would like me to believe.

You do realize that this is somewhat contradictory right? The hype is there because they are in fact the best conference, yes there is hyperbole to how good it really is, but it doesn't change the fact that currently and recently been the best.

I think the SEC is currently the best by a small margin. Good top teams, and the same crap every other conference has after that. ESPN would have us believe it's a super powerful conference. I don't think it is. I see no contradiction there. If I see two guys standing side by side - one is 6' 2", and the other is 6' 1 1/2', I can acknowledge that one is slightly taller without buying the idea that one of them as a giant and the other a dwarf.

These pre-season rankings in general are an utter joke and we don't need to waste time debating them as they are there only for the "fans."

UNC and Louisville are two teams that lost a lot of talent. In addition, Louisville has a new staff in place. I think this staff OVERALL will be an improvement from Strong but not right away.

Yeah, but didn't they hire a new dude at HC who might put some points up? You laying mortgage payment on Mark's D against Bobby's O in the first game of the season? I just checked my Kool Aide bucket and it is still dry since the VT game. I keep waiting for it to fill back up but not a drop in it yet. I am concerned over just about every game next year. Until Coley call a decent game or Duke comes back 100% I worry about not being able score, and until -- well everything has been said about the D until further notice. Last year I really thought we had shot to win them all, this year I am not sure about any.

No schedule is to easy with us anymore...

maybe GT or Pitt has a breakout freshman player...or VT has a stud Qb...

you kinda have to play it all out

LOL at 2014 being the "baseline" year for F.A.G.

unreal. just throw out the first 3 years guys.

anyone who expects the team (in particular the defense) to be significantly better is clueless

Louisville is gonna beat us by 14-21 points this fall.

Dnofrio is going to **** his pants.

Ahhh, the good ol' preseason polls. The lifeblood of SEC "dominance". Every clown school in that conference is probably viewed as having a killer schedule. A falsehood that'll carry through the season guaranteeing no "bad" losses and consistent overrankings. And we'll all complain when they ALWAYS get 2 teams in the playoff each year.

But yeah, Canes schedule doesn't appear to be horrendous. Alert me when the day comes that UF schedules a Nebraska type road game though.

^^^^^This. Nice Comment

I'm watching some prospect cut ups. I stupidly stumbled across Morris' lowlights.

How we won 9 games with him under centre is beyond me.

Our schedule is, theoretically, more difficult this year. If Williams is halfway competent though we'll be massively upgrading the most important position on the field and that will show in the W column.

Lots of addition by subtraction this year.

All those seniors that were getting extended playing time are gone. If we still look horrendous on D with the talent that we're running out there then we can organise the lynch mob.

Ah, if I had a dime for every time I have heard the "addition by subtraction line" in the time period of 2002-2014, I would be richer than Bill Gates. This is the year it will hold true!
