2014 QB Flowers Close to Offer

Wow, he has one of the worst OLines I've ever seen. Kid was running for his life throughout his highlight reel, it's impossible to know exactly how good he is as a QB.
 
What his measureables?

I thought he showed a pretty nice arm. His OLine is pretty horrible so not many drop back passes in those clips.
 
Definitely needs some refinement, but he has lots of potential. Hard to say for sure, but I think he's definitely better than Treon. It all comes down whether the coaching staff is willing build the offense around him.

Holy F at this kid.

Dude is like the black Johnny Manziel. Some of the escapes he had were reminiscent of the scrambles Manziel had as redshirt freshman.
 
Winky seems like a kid that just wins. I know he's not the typical QB we've had at Miami, but there is a large trend towards mobile QB's right now. I could see it working here.

Kid reminds me of Randall Cobb. I dont' care what position he plays just get him here.


Looks like he could make a **** of a punt returner too.

Flowers is currently six feet tall and 200 pounds, but he's still growing.

"He will be no shorter of 6-2 by the end of his senior year - his family is very tall," Brown said. "He has those long, rangy arms, big arms."

Brown said he fully expects Flowers to wind up a Cane.

"I don't think there would be any issue why he wouldn't' want to play Miami," Brown said.

Why this early?

“The reason I really want to commit, is because I always grew up as a Miami fan, there is no better place to be, than playing for your home team.” – Flowers

He attended junior day with 2014 Miami Northwestern DB JoJo Robinson, who is currently committed to Florida State.

“He has very high interest in Miami, we both planning to be a Miami player.”

Wouldn't write this kid off from being able to play QB for us. Seems to have a decent arm even when he's running for his life since his OLine is despicable. If the info given is right and he ends up around 6'2 I can only imagine the field day Fisch would have with this kid, he obviously is not against a QB that can run seeing as they always say they want Stephen to do it more. Get either way!
 
Give him a shot at qb and if he can't, switch him and if he wants to transfer let him, just give the kid a shot though, some of you are already like he'll make a good cb or RB, you may be right cuz we'll be real deep at qb but give him a chance
 
Because of Russell Wilson, kids under 6'0 tall (way under) are being given serious looks and chances to play QB.

Russell is the new #42.

Winky is raw as a quarterback, which is due in part to coaching and the role he is asked to play for his team. Because he is relied upon to be such a playmaker, he often presses and forces throws. He also has protection issues, which means he is runnning around and playing backyard football to avoid sacks. I'd love to see how he develops in a more stable system.


What he does have is a strong arm, big hands and playmaking instincts. He is definitely a run/pass QB, unlike Bridgewater and Morris who are athletic pocket quarterbacks. Time will tell if that trend makes its way to Miami, but Flowers is so talented that I hope we give him a chance to find out.
 
Man that OLine is swiss cheese he plays with. Some of those throws were crazy. A little concerned about his size at QB, but if he can do it by all means sign him up.

Seems like the year to bring in a developmental QB as well. Olsen should be making a play for the top of the depth chart as a redshirt Freshman (at least I hope so), and you can bring this kid and teach him how to be a QB without having to press him into duty early in his career.
