2013 preseason ranking

The Florida game will show a lot about where the team is. They obviously didn't take Louisville seriously. I don't see them making the same mistake against Miami.

This day in age....preseason rankings matter. See Alabama beating out Oregon and KState for the title (all three would have beat ND) just because they were ranked higher and didn't fall far after their loss.

Of course that's just for MNC....outside of being in the top 5 it doesn't mean much.

It definitely does. I think that voters are willing to move teams up by quite a bit when they play well, but it takes a lot to get teams to fall down once they are already up there.

Preseason ranking is siht.

AFTER the season is over, THAT's the only ranking that counts. You win your games, your ranking will reflect it.

Personally, I'd like to be ranked #1. I left all my ***** in my other jacket.

Can already see it. We will be untamed and UiF will come in Top 5. They'll be drooling all over Driskel and comparing him to Tebow. Then we beat their asses at our place and a different QB leaves the field as a Heisman contender...and his name is Morris.

Preseason rankings do matter. ND wouldn't have climbed as high as they did had they not beaten teams that were perceived to be strong when they played them due to preseason rankings.

If I'm not mistaken they beat both Michigan and Michigan state when they were ranked fairly high to make those wins more impressive than what they really were. Oklahoma was a top 10 team when they beat them in Norman.

We'll need Florida, FSU and Clemson (I'm assuming we play them in the ACCCG) to be ranked top 15 if we want to climb high enough to make an impact nationally.

Edit: Michigan State was ranked 10 when ND beat them and Michigan was 18. Michigan wouldn't have been top 25 after the *** whooping they took from Bama if they weren't ranked high in the preseason.

we have 2 stances with our fans.

One fan thinks we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. We dont deserve to be ranked and shouldnt be till we can prove that we belong. We should also just continue to improve and be happy with with a 8-9 win season next year. We'll probably lose a couple key recruits but if we get 3-4 of say of top 7 pending targets we should be happy.

The other fan thinks, we've sucked @ss long enough and we're back! We are MIAMI, we will be ranked high and deserve to be. We will win a minimum of 10 games this year and anything less will be a disappointment. We're back and we're not going anywhere this time! and in recruiting, WE WANT THEM ALL AND WE WILL GET THEM ALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

All big thing happen when people start believing! Without believing you can accomplish it, you never will!

i dont want to be ranked until we prove we can stay there.

I dont want to be ranked until we can go undefeated.

Call me crazy but that is a possibility this year. Soft schedule. UF and FSU games are toss-ups. The rest should take care of themselves.

The thing about the soft schedule is we'll probably only play two ranked teams all year (UF and FSU), which means we won't have as many opportunities to jump top 25 teams. The higher we start, the higher we finish, provided we win.

FSU loses 6 coaches, its QB and the majority of their best defenders.
UNC loses its star, Gio.
VT, we get them at home again and they were horrible on offense last year.
UF, we get those gayturds at home.
We return 20 starters and our QB finished the season like a beast!

Everything from our situation with sanctions, our schedule, our coaching acquisitions, and the amazing 2014 recruiting class, puts us in the position to have expectations that are what should be expected for a real Miami Hurricanes program!

Regardless of pre-season... if the unlikely were to occur and Miami did win out and win the ACC title we will be in the title game, no doubt.

Put me in the category of folks that would prefer to see sustained excellence on the field before we're recognized in any fashion by the polls. We have to be able to satay therez, basically.
