Once we moved into this stadium, I knew what the pictures would look like, the mocking photos of seemingly only a handful of people in the stands. That was a guarantee. In the Orange Bowl even a sparse crowd didn't look particularly bad, and it was always loud. I feel much worse in 2014 because there's no indication our administrators or athletic department are taking steps to get out of the regulatory dump. But I guess I should understand it because there is a correlation. Never mind the forfeited 2.5 points per game, on average, compared to the Orange Bowl. Playing in this stadium means we have no idea what we are doing. That's how it will always translate to me. So we'll make poor choices at every step of the ladder, and be comparatively overmatched.
Otherwise, I have no idea how anybody can feel worse about the Louisville bowl game than the Wisconsin game. Louisville was a superb team with a +3.3 Yards Per Pass Attempt Differential. That is a tremendous number, although it pales in comparison to Florida State at +4.9. Wisconsin in 2009 was a modest +.8, which is below average for a bowl of that level. We were +1.7 in 2013 and +1.1 in 2009. So you can see we had a theoretical small edge against Wisconsin but were not close to Louisville. The Louisville spread rightfully should have been considerably higher, which might have changed our expectation tighter to reality.
Golden is a great representative for the university, along with Shalala. I had full confidence in that combo during the NCAA battles. It's scary to think how many wobbles Shannon might have made during that predicament. And if the NCAA detected weakness they could have been more bold in punishment.
