People go to games when they think they are going to see a good product. A team that has been crushed three weeks in a row vs. a corpse from Charlottesville doesn't meet that standard. That's all it is. I don't think it says anything about our fans. Our fans are no better or worse than any other fans.

Can't disagree with this enough. Attendance at games is beyond embarrassing. By that metric alone, Canes fans are worse, much worse than other top programs. And it's not even close.

Are you assuming that UM has as many fans as "other top programs"? Because, I think UM's fan "base" (people who buy tickets and attend games in order to support the program) is tiny. I've been to a **** of a lot of UM games since 1957. Never once did I attend in order to support anything. I wanted to see college football played at a high level. That means my attendance was not guaranteed for crappy opponents. I'm a very long time fan, but never consider myself as part of the "base". Guess what? Most fans are like that. The numbers should tell you that.

And, what is your definition of "attendance"? By UM's definition, our attendance is pretty good. They say we are averaging 55,354 so far. I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face now.

Do you consider a guy in Ohio who was going to fly down for the game, but now decides not too, is a bad fan? Or is he just a fan who decided this entertainment event wasn't attractive enough to go to the trouble and expense?

If you go to a restaurant and the waiters are all busting their *** to give you good service but the food sucks and the owner refuses to fire the chef because its his best friend from college, do you continue to go back to that restaurant because of the waiters?? I dont!!!

That's a horrible analogy lol. Seeing as its senior day and their last home game I'd say they deserved a good crowd. W or L they still kids that put they bodies on the line to entertain us. Fans don't show up to games then cry because recruits leave town over atmosphere. No matter how bad we've played we are still 7-3 and still have a chance at 10 W's

1) senior day is a valid counter point on your end. I agree that the seniors should always be supported on senior day. Despite how well their careers played out, to me, senior day is the day where we as fans thank them for signing with UM.

2) To my knowledge, we rarely if ever lose a recruit due to the atmosphere at UM home games. Now plenty of kids have said straight up, "If Um was winning more I'd have signed with them..." So Im not buying that.

But again, UM's fanbase is not an affluent fanbase by any stretch of the imagination. Its easier for someone with less discretionary income to tighten up.

I live in NJ am a huge UM fan fly down for one game a year. If I lived down there I would for sure be a loyal season ticket holder. Good or Bad love my CANES
