To me, your manager has to understand that because of the type of pitcher that Chestnutt is (changeup specialist), he's a one-time through the order, three inning pitcher.
Because of that, I would have liked to see the bullpen up and ready to take over in the fourth long before we got to that point. Then, the decision to go to one of your worst relievers in a high-leverage spot was a poor decision in my view.
Through the first four games, I get the feel that JD is going to manage things like an old-school manager would. Paint-by-numbers bullpen roles, sacrifice bunts, "types" of hitters in different position in the lineup etc.
Not necessarily a criticism, but rather just an observation of how he will handle things now that I've seen several games with him.
