I'm trying to convince my friend I'm not being biased by explaining that Stephen Morris will be one of if not THE BEST QB IN HE COUNTRY. Am I wrong?

He has the tools, whether or not it translates onto the field week in and week out remains to be seen.

He's got to get more consistent. (Please, no one go sabremetrician on me, I don't care to see numbers, I trust my eyes on this). He can play ridiculously well for stretches and then miss some really critical throws for stretches.

If he improves his short passing game touch and the TE is a bigger part of the offense, Morris could have a very good senior season.

He had too many bad quarters, but I think a full offseason and the development of his receivers will only help. Don't think he has even scratched his ceiling yet. If he can add the goal line fade to his repertoire, that would be a good thing.

Needs to work on his touch and reading the defense. Can't just rely on looking over at the coaches for the audible. I want him to know, pre-snap, that the RB coming out of the flat is going to be wide *** open based on a blitz or whatever. Too many times he forces the ball downfield when the RB has nothing but green in front of him.

I expect him to have a great senior season.

I don't see him as a top 10 qb in the country. He throws a nice deep ball, but (as others mentioned) has no touch on short passes, and is up and down on the mid-range throws. nor does he have great athleticism. that said, he improved significantly in the turnover category late in the season, which is critical.

then again, I'll be thrilled if i'm wrong.

Gotta disagree there. The boy can run and shuffle. Short and mid range passing needs some tweaking. And going through his progressions instead of locking onto one receiver was a big problem, which he drastically improved toward the end of the season. REPS REPS get the boy more REPS. He's comin around. Best in the country? Don't quite think so, but he will be in Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine next year I believe. Manziel might be right now.

If he improves a few aspects of his game and learns to throw with some touch when necessary, he could be top 5. Especially when you factor in the weapons he will be passing to. Duke, Dorsett, Hurns, maybe Lewis and AJL, Waters, a decent collection of TE's, etc etc...

Nobody in the country has the abundance of weapons Morris will have next season. There might be receivers better than the ones we've got, but I am hard pressed to think of a single team where quality receivers go 6 deep like us. And nobody has a Duke Johnson equivalent.

I hope you're right but I think for him to be a top flight Qb he needs a more consistent running game. He is relied on to much for the big play I don't dislike the offense but we need more balance

There are two modest, realistic improvements I'd like to see Morris make:

1) Complete the throws that should be automatic. He misses 2-3 gimmes a game. More consistent fundamentals will help.

2) Trust his athleticism. He doesn't need to turn into a runner, but when he gets out of the pocket his arm becomes extremely dangerous. You saw the big plays against NC St., USF and Duke.

Those two things alone will make a world of difference.

lets see how he improves w a full spring this year. remember he missed all of last spring due to his back surgery. now that hes not competing with another qb for a starting job and has no worry about that lets see if the other aspects of his game can improve

I just can't believe this thread was even conjured up in someone's head. I really can't believe it.

Dude isn't even trusted to throw slants against teams because he's on lockdown with his primary target. There are certain plays our OC won't even run with this guy. Doubtful he'll be anywhere near the best qb in the nation next year... but i hope so.

He could be really good next year. Or he could be about what he was this year - inconsistent, capable of big games but capable of stinkers. The pieces are in place for the former.

I thought he ended the season on a very strong note. Hopefully he can put some work in during the offseason, and carry it over to next year. As many have stated he has the tools to be one of the best, but only time will tell. I think he ended the last four games with 11TDs and ZERO picks, not to mention we used the TE the most in the last 4 games as well.
